Change your Settings

On the top right hand side, click the word “Me” then “Settings”

You can add a profile picture and change your info here.

Under Email and Text Updates, you should uncheck the boxes so you don’t get emails every time someone joins a group or posts a note. You may want to turn this back on when students join so you can moderate their usage.

Home Button

Click the Home button on the top left to get back to your main page.

Look for this post in our group and practice leaving a reply.

Find the sample quiz and poll that I put in our group and give it a try.

Assignments

Teachers can post assignments for students to complete and turn in online.Find this assignment in our group and click “Turn In.”

Follow the directions to complete the sample assignment. Be sure to click “Turn in Assignment” when you are finished.

Posting MessagesYou will type your message to a group in this box.

Files and links can be attached to posts here. You can even schedule a post to be sent at a later time using the clock symbol.

This “Send to” line tells you whether the post is going to a group or to a teacher. Remember, students cannot post privately to other students.

Practice sending a post by typing in what school you teach at and what grade level. Hit “Send” when you are finished to share that post with our group.

Filtering PostsOnce a lot of students start using the Edmodo group, there will be many posts. You can use the “Filter posts by” feature to search the feed for a particular post.

You can search by author or by the type of post – likean assignment, poll or quiz.

Edmodo Planner

On the right hand side, click on this Planner button and check that out. It is a calendar feature.

The planner will help the students and teachers keep track of assignments, activities and due dates. Users can also add in their own events and they will be notified when those events are coming up.

Practice adding a new event to your Planner. Hover your mouse over a date and click the plus sign that appears to open this box and then create a pretend event. Hit the black X on the top right to exit the Planner and get back to the Edmodo home screen.

Notifications

The little red Notification circle on the top right lets you know that you have something new to look at. Edmodo sends Notifications about new assignments, new group members, new direct messages, etc. I tell the children to check the Notification area first when they log in.

Progress

Next to the Home buttonis the Progress button thatallows you to see the assignments completed and grades.

BadgesBadges are awardedfrom the Progress buttonor on a student’s Profile page. They can be a great motivation.It’s like an online sticker for their profile.

You can choose from badges thatEdmodo has available or createyour own.

Discover

This is where Edmodo will make recommendations to you about things they think will be of interest to you.

Library

The Library allow you to share and organize files and links to share withothers in your groups.

Teachers and students can also connect to their Google Drive here. On the student version of Edmodo, it is called a Backpackinstead of the Library. The students can use their Backpack as Cloud storage

Group Code

This is the group code that you would give to the students to join yourgroup. You can change the code or lock the group so no one else can join. Students cannot see the group code.

App Store

This is where you can locate and purchase Apps – some are free. Then students can access that website through their Edmodo account. So children would only have to log into one place – not many different websites.

Manage Apps

This is where you manage the Apps that you already purchased andassign them to the group you want to use it.

Launch Apps

This is where you start the Apps you have purchased to play the game or use the website.

Snapshot

This is a new feature from Edmodo that creates quizzes based on the CommonCore. Below is a link to more info. There is also a video you can watch. Lookfor the link to that video on the top right corner of that webpage.

Communities

Communities are a great way to connect with other teachers around theworld to share ideas and learn new things. You’ll find the Communitieson the left hand side under your Groups.

You can follow Communities based on Subject Area or Platforms. Onceyou follow a Community, the posts for that group will show up on yourEdmodo homepage.

You can now download the Edmodo app and try logging in from your iPad. Most features of the site are the same but you’ll notice a few differences.
