NEW MEMBER RECEPTION
An event to introduce and welcome new Chamber members, as well as inform existing members about opportunities within the

Ambassadors Council

Goals:
• Meet monthly to discuss assigned calls and member feedback.
• Contact members throughout the year to request feedback, update information and inform them of upcoming events.
• Provide input to the Board and other councils.
• Recognize businesses with more than 15 years of Chamber membership through monthly “Pioneer” articles in The
Edmond Sun.
• Represent the Chamber at ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings.
• Greet members at Membership Luncheons, Business After Hours, Morning Mingle and other Chamber events.
Women’s Network Council
Staff Liaison: Morgan Jones
Objective: Encourage the growth of women in business by addressing issues they encounter and provide networking
opportunities to participants.

Participation: Women in business
Goals:
• Engage an average of 75 women per month at 10 Women’s Network Breakfasts. Breakfasts will serve as both a
networking opportunity, as well as professional development.
• Hold the 8th Annual Leadership Conference in November 2016.
• Honor a Woman of the Year at the Annual Banquet in 2016.
• Communicate weekly with the women of the Edmond Chamber through an E-newsletter.
Morning Mingle & Business After Hours

Objective: Provide opportunities for members to develop business relationships and friendships.
Participation: Open to all members
Goals:
• Conduct 12 Morning Mingles in 2016.
• Conduct 12 Business After Hours in 2016.
Member Rewards Program

Objective: Retain members and encourage participation at all functions and events.

Goal:
• Continue program through 2016 and compare the retention numbers and event attendance at the end of the year.
Membership

Objective: Increase membership, retain existing members and expand Chamber resources to better serve members.
Short-Term Goals:
• Upgrade and conduct six New Member Reception events during 2016.
• Attain new membership growth of 3% from 2015 to 2016.
• Evaluate services and programs offered to minority business owners.
Ongoing/Long-Term Goals:
• Attain and manage a retention rate of no less than 85%.
• Achieve 30% market penetration.
• Contact every member at least 3 times each year through Chamber staff and Ambassador Council.
Special Events Council
Objective: Sponsor and coordinate special events that provide an opportunity for members to network and develop business relationships.

and volunteers for 2015.

Objective: Build strong relationships among fellow Edmond residents, as well as creating invaluable ways to promote our community worldwide. Determine a 2016 destination in the first quarter of 2016.
Community and Economic Development Division
Objective: To enhance economic prosperity and quality of life in the Edmond area
Economic and Community Development
Objective: Serve as a catalyst for addressing the critical issues facing the community.
Goals:
• Take a leadership role in extending the ½ cent sales tax for capital improvements, including but not limited to a
performing arts center.*
• Support April 2016 extension of the one cent sales tax for the general fund.*
• Become actively involved in discussions regarding the Regional Transit Authority.
• Participate in the creation of the Central Oklahoma STEM Regional Alliance.
• Update members on actions to improve traffic conditions and recommend solutions when appropriate.
• Continue to provide complimentary office space to the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center, which serves to
assist Edmond’s small business community.
Small Business Council
Staff Liaison: Katie Ceyler
Objective: Support member businesses by planning and providing a series of educational programs, peer support,
recognition and various networking opportunities.
Participation: Open to all members

Goals:
• Offer member businesses top quality educational opportunities that are equally beneficial to businesses of any size.
• Hold 9 Business Development Workshops/Luncheons with an average of 30 or more attendees at each
• Honor a Small Business of the Year at the Annual Awards Banquet in January 2016.
• Create an Edmond Chamber blog featuring various business related topics. Chamber members will serve as subject
area experts and submit their articles for approval.
Edmond Locally Owned
Staff Liaison: Emily Friedman
Objective: Edmond Locally Owned seeks to create awareness in the community and encourage consumers to shop at locally owned businesses. This program is a business certification that serves as a platform to differentiate locally owned businesses in the community. Edmond Locally Owned seeks to increase support for local businesses and sustain the character and quality of life in Edmond.

Goal:
• To enroll a minimum of 50 participants by the end of 2016.
• Offer three Power Hour events on relevant topics for members to attend.
• Hold six ELO Espressos at a different Edmond Locally Owned Business with at least 50 percent attendance at
each event.
• Develop a plan to actively promote participation in national Small Business Saturday.
• Begin efforts to rebrand Edmond Locally Owned no later than the third quarter of 2016.
Small Business Owner’s Alliance
Staff Liaison: Katie Ceyler
Objective: Support member business owners with 25 employees or less by providing peer support, mentorship
and education.
Participation: Contact the Chamber for participation requirements or visit our website, www.edmondchamber.com.
Goals:
• Meet monthly (except June, July and December) to discuss relevant topics and discover ideas and solutions that
are beneficial to small business owners.
• Expand group to maximum of 25 consistent members.
• Invite congressional representatives to participate in a roundtable discussion during 2016.
CEO Roundtable
Staff Liaison: Katie Ceyler
Objective: Support larger member businesses with 100 employees or more by providing peer support and
education.
Participation: Contact the Chamber for participation requirements or visit our website, www.edmondchamber.com.
Goal:
• Expand group to a maximum of 10 consistent members.
Education Council
Objective: Support programs and events that assist our educational partners while creating a basis for mentorship
opportunities with local businesses.
Participation: Open to all members.

New Teacher Reception
Staff Liaison: Emily Friedman
Objective: Conduct the 9th Annual New Teacher Reception in August 2016.
Participation: Open to all members
Goal: Coordinate the New Teacher Reception for teachers from Edmond Public Schools, Deer Creek Public
Schools, Francis Tuttle Technology Center, University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian University
scheduled for August 2016.
Developing the Next Generation of Leaders
Leadership Edmond Alumni Council
Staff Liaison: Rachel Martin
Objective: Provide opportunities for continued professional development and networking for graduates of
Leadership Edmond.
Participation: Open to all Leadership Edmond graduates
Goals:
• Continue to add benefits for members with the dues structure set in place.
• Provide opportunities for professional development and leadership opportunities to alumni members – Lessons
in Leadership in February 2015 and Lunch with the Mayor in June 2015.
• Present Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award at Lunch with the Mayor event
• Discuss the possibility of eliminating fall networking event with Alumni Council.
Leadership Edmond Council
Staff Liaison: Amanda Bowen
Objective: Organize a leadership development and community education program to cultivate community leaders
for the future.
Participation: By Application Only
Goals:
• Organize Leadership Edmond, a leadership development program designed to provide community leaders with
a deeper understanding of the critical issues affecting the Edmond area.
• Provide an ongoing source of diverse leaders who are prepared and committed to serve as catalysts and
sustainers of positive change for the quality of life in the Edmond area.
Program Goals: Opening overnight retreat, ten day-long sessions, 30 + class members, determined by selection
process.
Youth Leadership Edmond Council
Staff Liaison: Morgan Jones
Objective: Sponsor a leadership development program for high school juniors and incorporate Youth Leadership
Edmond students into positions of leadership in the community.
Participation: Open to all members, Leadership Edmond graduates preferred.
Goals:
• Develop a six-session program (November – April) for approximately 40 high school juniors in the Edmond
school district which provides community education and leadership development training, concluded by a
graduation.

• Educate high school juniors about the importance of and opportunities for community service and incorporate
the students into the Chamber and community.
Intern Edmond
Staff Liaison: Rachel Martin
Objective: In cooperation with the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian University, conduct a
program that encourages member businesses to hire college summer interns at their businesses.
Goals:
• Market program to members via email, social media and local media.
• Target member businesses that would be a good fit for an internship.
• Conduct Employer Briefing in February for summer internships.
• Hold Employer Roundtable event in late June to provide peer support and education.
• Host Commencement Reception in late July for intern employers and students.
Military Affairs Council
Staff Liaison: Katie Ceyler
Objective: Provide support and cultivate partnerships with the 137th Air National Guard based at Will Rodgers Airport,
Edmond North ROTC and UCO’s Veterans Programs.
Participation: Open to all members
Goals:
• Meet every other month to discuss topics, issues and events directly related to the 137th
Air National Guard, Edmond
North ROTC and UCO Veterans programs.
• Inform Edmond Chamber members of the partnership with the 137th Air National Guard.
• Honor an Edmond North Cadet at six Membership Luncheons. A representative from the 137th Air National Guard will be
a part of the award presentation.
• The Edmond Chamber will sponsor and present the 137th Airmen of the Year Awards.
• The Military Affairs Council and Chamber Leadership will visit the 137th Air National Guard base located at Will Rogers
Airport in 2016.
• The Military Affairs Council and Chamber Leadership will participate in the 137th Air National Guard’s annual leadership
dinner in 2016.
Sister Cities
Staff Liaison: Ken Moore
Objective: Sister Cities is a partnership between the City of Edmond, UCO, Oklahoma Christian University, Edmond
Public Schools, Edmond Fine Arts Institute, the Edmond Economic Development Authority and the Edmond Area
Chamber of Commerce.
Goals:
• Assist in the expansion of the Edmond Sister City Association.
• Continue relationship with Engels, Russia.
• Assist in the creation of a new Sister City relationship with Qingyang, China.
Edmond Young Professionals (EYP)
Staff Liaison: Morgan Boswell
Objective: Attract and retain young professionals in the Edmond area while fostering the next generation of leaders.
Goals:

• Enlist 200 paid members
• Hold four to six networking events throughout the year
• Hold four quarterly educational events
• Host five “Leadership Latte” speaker series events
• Communicate weekly though an E-newsletter
• Seek out two to four community service opportunities for young professionals each year
• Engage young professionals through various social media channels
• Successfully launch Book Club

Special Events Committee

Objective: Provide unique and exciting networking opportunities for young professionals in the Edmond area.
Shape and impact the future of Edmond by providing a variety of service opportunities throughout the community
designed to impact the lives of its citizens in meaningful ways.
Goals:
• Hold four to six networking events
• Seek out two to four volunteer opportunities within the Edmond community and promote them within EYP.
Education Committee
Staff Liaison: Morgan Jones
Objective: Create unique learning opportunities intended to foster growth personally and professionally today, with
the hope of making a lasting impact as leaders in the community tomorrow.
Goals:
• Hold four quarterly educational events with 40-50 in attendance at each event.
• Host five “Leadership Latte” speaker series events
• Provide support to Book Club
Ambassador Committee

Objective: Promote EYP to the community, serve as the “face” of EYP and help build corporate relationships.
Goals:
• Recruit new members
• Increase the retention rate of the program
• Welcome new members and guests at events
Mentorship Task Force
Staff Liaison: Morgan Jones
Objective: Develop mentorship program for EYP members, which will provide an opportunity for mentees to gain
insight into career paths, the community, and/or professional growth. Mentors will be Chamber members.
Goals:
• Foster successful mentor/mentee relationships.
• Host a series of three leadership luncheons to connect mentors with mentees.
• Consistently work to monitor and facilitate mentor/mentee relationships.

Organizational Development Division
Objective: To implement the polices and goals of the Board of Directors
Board of Directors
Staff Liaison: Ken Moore
Objective: Direct and support the implementation of the annual Business Plan in a manner representative of the entire
membership and to set and direct matters of policy.
Participation: Elected by the membership and by appointment when vacancies occur.
Goals:
• Meet every other month to represent the interests of the membership in setting policy and establishing programs to
benefit area businesses.
• Represents the Chamber at Chamber and community events.
• Receive reports from Chamber representatives serving on City Boards and Commissions.
• Update a 3 year-long range plan for board review and approval by December 2016.
• Conduct an annual Board Retreat no later than October 2016.
Executive Committee
Staff Liaison: Ken Moore
Objective: Act for the Board of Directors between Board meetings, oversee the strategic plan, the business plan and
operating budget, and provide direction for the Chamber President and staff.
Participation: By appointment from members of the Board of Directors.
Goals:
• Meet monthly to oversee the implementation of the business plan and budget, insuring that organizational goals are met.
• Represent the Board and Chamber at Chamber and community events.
Finance Committee
Staff Liaison: Sherry Jordan
Objective: Ensure that the Chamber remains fiscally sound through regular review of the Chamber’s annual operating
budget and investments.
Goals:
• Meet monthly to examine the Chamber’s budget and finances to insure the Chamber is fiscally sound.
• Present 2017 budget for Executive Council and Board approval in December 2016.
Past Presidents and Chairmen Task Force
Staff Liaison: Ken Moore
Objective: Capitalize on the experience and talents of past Chamber presidents and chairmen of the board.
Participation: Past Presidents/Chairmen of the Board
Goal:
• Meet once a year to provide an opportunity for all past Presidents/Chairs to receive updates on Chamber activities and
to network.
Total Resource Campaign
Staff Liaison: Sherry Jordan
Objective: Finance new and existing programs
Participation: 50+ Volunteers.

• Generate new event sponsorships, memberships and advertising sales of $300,000.

Long Range Planning Task Force

Objective: Strategically plan for the upcoming 3-5 years.
Goal:
• Meet at least annually to revise and update the Long Range Plan.
Communications

Objective: Inform members of Chamber events, actions and goals.
Goals:
• Design and publish postcards for all monthly events
• Design and publish an annual business plan and report
• Design and publish two semi-annual printed magazines
• Create event invitations for all annual events
• Continue to inform the membership through Social Media
• Engage membership through informative and entertaining posts on Facebook daily
• Tweet/Retweet about topics relevant to Chamber members
• Continue to expand reach on Instagram
• Like/follow new Chamber members on Facebook and Twitter upon joining
• Create Social Media calendar for optimized posting by the second quarter of 2016
• Increase Twitter followers from 3,100 in 2015 to 3,300 by end of 2016
• Grow Facebook reach from 2,070 likes in 2015 to 2,250 by end of 2016
• Explore possibility of using Facebook ads by the third quarter of 2016 to further the Chamber’s reach and
increase awareness
• Continue to inform the membership through weekly E-newsletters on Mondays and Wednesdays
• Manage website and update content weekly
• Maintain mobile website and event calendar
• Evaluate Google analytics reports and pursue capturing more detailed information from our website by the second
quarter of 2016

Governmental Relations Division
Objective: Represent the legislative interests of business on local, state and national levels
and inform members of issues which impact business and Edmond

Objective: Represent the legislative interests of business on local, state and national levels and inform members of issues
which impact business and Edmond.
Participation: Open to all members.

Goals:
• Meet monthly to discuss local, state and national issues.
• Host two legislative breakfasts during 2016 that allows Chamber members and Edmond citizens the opportunity to
communicate with State officials.
• Host sessions for members and/or citizens to communicate with City, Country and State and Federal elected officials.
• Coordinate annual Washington D.C. trip in 2016.
• Host a “State of the City” and Congressional Luncheon during 2016.
• Develop policy positions on local, state & national issues for adoption by the Board of Directors at the December 2016
board meeting.
• Conduct candidate forums as necessary.
• Consider holding a Legislative Reception for City Council Members, Representatives of the Oklahoma House and
Senate and our Representative in Congress.
