Discussion 1
According to the authors of our textbook, “instructional designers should consider how words and pictures work together to create meaning for the learner” (p.70). Explain what this means in your own words. Then, list each type of graphic identified in the text (i.e., decorative graphics, representational graphics, etc.) and find at least one example for each, using the internet. Evaluate which types of graphics can be effective in promoting learning, and describe the contexts in which you think they would be most effective. Remember to cite the location of the graphics you include, as you would any other resource in a response.
Instructional designers should consider how words and pictures work together to create meaning for the learner” In my own words this means that the picture reinforces what the words are saying and vise verse. One should be able to look at the picture and figure out what is going on before reading the words and/or be able to read the words without looking at the picture and understand the process in the picture.
