PREFACE

Educare Institute of Dental Sciences (ECIDS), is first of its kind in the Malappuram

district was established in the year 2006. First batch in 2007 with a intake of 50 students per

year was started in 2007 with the approval of State government, DCI and is affiliated to

Kerala University of Health Sciences, Trissur. . The institute was recognized by DCI in

2013 and the student intake was enhanced to 100 seats per year. .The campus with modern

amenities overviewed by an illustrious faculty offers a perfect setting for an enriched

academic experience and vibrant student life and also has state of the art facilities with latest

equipments to cater to the needs of all patients and for students’ training..The Institute has

obtained approvals from all the regulatory bodies/viz: Dental Council of India and Kerala

University of Health Sciences..

During the last 10 years of its existence, the Educare Institute has helped, in changing

the entire profile of Chattiparamba, otherwise a sleepy village, and an unknown entity. As

responsible members of the society, we have undertaken several measures, such as

dental camps, health surveys and other works that helped the presence of the campus

meaningful, for the improvement of the life of the people in the region.

The institute is located on the Kottakkal–Perinthalmanna State Highway. Frequent

bus services are available throughout the day from all the nearby towns. Calicut International

Airport is only 32 Km away and there are three railway stations Tirur, Kuttippuram &

Angadippuram, all within 25 km radius.

The dental college and all dental specialty buildings are aesthetically designed with

landscaped campus. The library boasts of rich collection of dental books and both National

and International journals. Broad band internet facilities are provided in the campus. Labs

ECIDS is credited with having one of the most eminent Faculties amongst its peers in

the state. The dental clinic has 225 electronically operated imported dental chairs. ECIDS

has one of the largest patient turn out among dental colleges in the state.

I. INTRODUCTION

I. 1. This prospectus relates to admission to MDS Course in Educare Institute of Dental

Sciences, Kiliyamannil Campus, Chattiparamba, Malappuram - 676504, likely to be stated

during the academic year 2018-19, affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS)

to all seats including to NRI seats.

NB:- 15% of the MDS Seats is set apart for NRI candidates. Anyhow the college

management has to the right to convert the NRI seats to general seats in the absence of NRI

Candidates.

I. 3.This prospectus contains the rules and regulations applicable for selection, admission, fees,

etc to the MDS course for Academic Year 2018-19.

I.4 This prospectus is subject to modification / addition / deletion as may be deemed necessary

by the College Management and also subject to further orders, if any, passed by appropriate

authorities/courts of law.

2) DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course shall be three academic years (36 months) from the date of commencement of the course. The date of commencement of the course and the last date of completion of admission process will be as per the time schedule fixed by affiliating Universities/Courts of law.

4) CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

4.1 Academic:

i. Applicant should have passed BDS degree from KUHS from any other University recognized by DCI.

ii. Registration with the State Dental Council.

(1) Self Attested copies of the BDS Course Certificate, all BDS mark lists and State Dental Council Registration certificate should be furnished along with the application.

(2) Applicants who will complete one year Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship (CRRI) on or before 31-03-2018 are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination. But admission to the candidate will be given only after obtaining Registration of the Dental Council.

4.2 Age

The upper age limit for the general merit candidates shall be 45 years as on 31-12-2017, Attested copy of relevant page of school record namely SSLC/ISC/CBSE certificate showing the date of birth should be furnished along with the application, as proof of age.

4.3 Character and Conduct

Candidates should have good Character and Conduct. A certificate in this regard should be produced from the Head of the Institution last studied.

5) ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

All candidates shall have to qualify the All India NEET MDS 2018 Exam for admission as per the Dental Council of India norms.

6) AFFIDAVIT

Affidavit/undertaking by the candidate and parent to pay the fees that may be fixed by Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee pursuant to the judgment/orders of the court should be submitted along with the application in the format as given in Annexure II and a service bond as given in Annexure III at the time of admission.

7) HOW TO APPLY

7.1 Application

Application should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, online as per the notification issued by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations.

7.2 Instructions for filling the Application form:

(a) The application should be submitted online to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination as per the notification issued by the CEE/Director of Medical Education.

7.3 Certificates/Documents to be submitted along with the Application:

(a) B.D.S Degree/Pass Certificate.

(b) All the documents required as per the notification and prospectus issued by Commissioner for Entrance Examination/Director of Medical Education.

Important Notes:-

(a) Application not accompanied by documents will be summarily rejected without any further intimation.

(b) Not to enclose original of certificates along with the application. Self Attested photocopies need alone be enclosed.

(c) Documents/Certificates furnished after submission of the application will not be entertained under any circumstances.

(d) No opportunity will be given to incorporate any details or document after the submission of the application.

(e) Furnishing of false information/particulars would result in the forfeiture of the candidature as well as cancellation of admission to the course, and in addition, will attract the relevant provisions of criminal law of the land.

8) PROCEDURE OF SELECTION

The selection for admission will be made on the basis of inter se merit from the merit list prepared based on the marks obtained in the written test for the entrance examination (NEET MDS 2018).

9) COUNSELLING/ALLOTMENT

9.1 Qualified candidates on the basis of order of merit will be called for counselling and allotment.

9.2 Candidates who do not turn up for the allotment as per schedule, at the place and time notified, will forfeit their chance for admission and will not be considered for admission in future or arising vacancies, irrespective of the Rank.

9.3 The candidates can give all possible options in the preferences form issued along with the application form. Options once furnished will be final. Allotment of candidates to the MDS courses shall be made on the basis of the rank obtained in the entrance examination and depending on the availability of seats. If a candidate gets selected for the first option he/she will not be considered for the lower options. If a candidate gets selected for his/her lower option the day of Counselling, he/she will be considered for the higher options as per rank, if vacancy arises on or before 31/05/2017 in that particular subject, provided he/she has joined and is continuing the course of his/her lower option.

9.4 No candidate shall be permitted to do post graduate course in more than one specialty simultaneously. One should have completed or discontinued the course before joining post graduate course in a different specialty.

9.5 Date of Joining and transfer

a) It is mandatory for the candidate to join the course on the date fixed at the time of counselling, if selected.

b) If a candidate does not join the course to which he/she is selected or discontinues the course after joining, his/her claim for admission for the higher option shall be forfeited.

(c) No extension of joining time shall be granted.

(d) No allotment/transfer shall be considered after the last date of admission prescribed by Competent Authority/ Courts of law.

9.6 Documents to be produced at the time of Counselling/Allotment process

a) Original Admit card entrance examination.

b) Original mark lists of the qualifying examination. (BDS)

c) Original Degree/pass certificate of the qualifying examination.

d) Original Course Certificate.

e) Original Character and Conduct Certificate.

f) Original of any other certificates, the copies of which are enclosed with the application form.

g) Original document (School Record ie. SSLC or equivalent) to prove date of birth.

h) Eligibility/equivalency certificate for candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from outside the state.

i) A Physical Fitness Certificate in the format given in Annexure IV

j) Affidavit/undertaking by the candidate and parent to pay the fees as given in Annexure V

k) A Service bond/undertaking by the candidate and parent as given in Annexure VI

l) Any other documents mentioned in the counselling /allotment notification.

m) Kerala Dental Council Registration Certificate valid for the year 2018. Admission to the candidate shall be given only after obtaining registration with the Kerala Dental Council.

n) Any documents prescribed in the prospectus issued by CEE for MDS Admission

9.7 Genuineness of Certificates

(i) If the Selection Committee of the individual institution has any doubt about any certificates furnished by a candidate, such certificate shall be accepted only if found genuine on further verification.

(ii) Admission even if granted shall be cancelled if it is found later that false Certificates had been produced or that the admission had been secured by fraudulent means.

Important:

Candidate will not be given any chance to produce the original documents/certificates after the time of allotment.

10) PAYMENTS OF FEES

10.1 All the candidates shall pay the fees prescribed against the individual institution details in Annexure II at the time of counselling/allotment.

10.2 No exemption from payment of fees will be granted to candidate under any circumstances.

10.3 Refund/Adjustment of Fees

a) No fees will be refunded to the candidates leaving the institution after 15 days before the last date of closing of admission. Refund of fees will be applicable only to students who leave the college on or before 15 days before the last date for closing of admission. The refund will be made within 30 days of their request for the same.

b) If any candidate discontinues/leaves the institution after 15 days before the closing of admission in the 1st year or discontinues/leaves in the subsequent years, he/she is liable to pay fees for the remaining years ie. fees for the whole course. In such cases Transfer Certificate and other certificates will be issued only after the payment of fees for the remaining years are also remitted.

10.4 Bank Guarantee

Students, at the time of admission, will have to furnish bank guarantee for the fees for the subsequent years.

11) SPECIAL FEATURES

11.1 At the time of admission the candidate should bring a certificate regarding the Physical standards/fitness prescribed in the format given as Annexure IV obtained from a Medical Officer in Government service not below the rank of an Assistant Medical Officer.

11.2 Medium of instruction/examinations throughout the course will be English.

11.3 Stipend

The candidates during the course of study will not be eligible for any sort of stipend/Salary by the college management.

11.4 Private Practice PG (MDS) students shall not engage in private practice of any sort during the course of study.

11.5 Prohibition of Ragging: As per direction of the Honourable Supreme Court order (SLP(C) no. 24295/2004 and SLC No 24296 - 2499/2004) and as per the Kerala Government Circular (31787/K/C/206 dt. 21.11.2006), ragging is strictly banned in all the member institutions.

1. Any person indulged in ragging in the past or it is noted later that he has indulged in ragging, admission may be refused or he shall be expelled from the institution.

2. Any person who directly involved in the act of ragging, if proved may get an imprisonment up to two years and a fine up to 10,000.

3. Any person punished for ragging will be expelled from the institution. 4. Ragging / any type of misconduct towards any student either in the college campus or

outside will be considered as criminal offence and will be immediately reported to the

police. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies.

5. Every student shall at the time of admission furnish a character certificate from the

institute wherefrom they have passed the qualifying examination, which would

mention the status of their behavioral pattern especially in terms as to whether they

have displayed persistent violent, or aggressive behavior or any desire to harm others.

6. Students and parents shall, at the time of admission, furnish an affidavit to the

Principal and submit the same to the MHRD online to the effect that the students

shall not indulge in ragging.

7. Anti-ragging Committee and Ant-Ragging squad are functional in the college.

11.6 Use of mobile phone

Uses of mobile phone by the students are not allowed during class hours of the institutions. Violation of the rule will lead to strict disciplinary actions by the authorities.

12) OTHER ITEMS

12.1 All disputes pertaining to the examinations, selection or admission shall fall only within the jurisdiction of the Honourable High Court of Kerala.

12.2 Permission will not be granted for transfer to other institutions during the course of study (Order No. AC II/1795/Regulations/KUHS/2011 dated 22-12-2011.

12.3 This prospectus is subject to modification/addition as may be considered necessary by the College Management and will be issued as order/modifications.

12.4 Any other items not specifically covered in this prospectus will be decided by the undersigned, and his decision will be final.

13) ANNUAL FEES

13.1 Tuition Fee for the PG course is Rs. 8.5 lakhs (Eight Lakhs & fifty thousand only)per Annam ( Subject to change as per the direction of the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee /law of court) The students admitted under NRI quota shall be liable to pay Rs. 15lakhs per Annam.

13.2 The Tuition fee for First year shall be paid at the time of admission .The candidate must give a Bank Guarantee from a Scheduled Bank for the balance tuition fee to be paid for the subsequent year at the time of admission.

13.3 Various fees payable to the university / other statutory bodies shall be payable by the students.

15.RESULT OF BDS EXAMINATION FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS

Educare Institute of Dental Science is one of the top dental colleges in the State. The

dedicated and sincere efforts of both the Management and staff boosted the exam result to a

considerable level. The analysis of final year examination result for the last three years

substantiates this statement.

16.FACILITIES PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS

HOSTELS: Hostel facilities are provided for Boys and Girls. Female students are provided

with three well equipped hostel blocks surrounded by strong compound wall. The total intake

of the girls’ hostel is 300. Each room in the girls hostel is well furnished, equipped and bath

attached. The service of two female Asst. wardens is available on full time basis.

The boys’ hostel block is also well-furnished and well protected to accommodate 50 inmates.

17. DEPARTMENTS: All the nine Dental Departments as well as the Basic Science

Departments are well furnished and well equipped as per the specifications prescribed by

Dental Council of India and Kerala University of Health Sciences. The installation of CBCT

facility in the Oral Medicine and Radiology Department is a remarkable mile stone in the

developmental history of the Institution. Educare Institute of Dental Sciences is the only

dental college to have this facility in the state.

18. LIBRARY:-The institution possess a very good library with modern books and journals

both current and back volumes. The journals include 24 national and 25 international

journals. The library hall is spacious enough to accommodate more than 200 students at a

time with a reading room attached it. Online reference facility is provided to the students with

10 systems and the library is fully automated.

19. TIE UP WITH GOVT.HOSPITAL MALAPPURAM

The institution has a tie up with the 116 bedded Govt. Hospital Malappuram that is within

eight KMs from the college for the training of MDS students for 3 years (GO (Rt)

No.7451/2017/H&FWD,TVM, dated:11.09.17

20. TIE UP WITH MALAYSIA UNIVERSITY

Educare has expanded its horizon in the field of research and faculty exchange by

establishing a tie up with University Saints Malaysia(USM).Through this collaboration the

institute and the USM will endeavor to support and assist each other in the field of common

interest by organizing workshops or conferences.

21. REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCES

Any grievances/ complaints regarding selection and admission can be brought to the notice of

the Coordinator of Admissions as well as to the Director / Manager of the college concerned,

within 24 hours of occurrence of the grievance.

Student Support and Guidance cell has been constituted in the College as per the direction of

the Kerala University of Health Sciences.

22. CODE OF CONDUCT Every student is required to adhere strictly to the code of conduct and dress code of the

institution.
