This National Council for the Training ofJournalists (NCTJ) qualification is recognised byemployers and is what most editors look forwhen recruiting a trainee reporter. It providespotential journalists with the knowledge andprofessional skills required in this sector. Theseinclude an understanding of media law, aknowledge of local and central government, anability to produce good copy for a variety ofmedia platforms including print, online andvideo, and shorthand at 100wpm.

Modules include:• Practical Journalism• Media Law• Public Affairs• Shorthand (Teeline System).

Entry requirements:Two A levels and five GCSEs at grade C,including English and mathematics. Allapplicants are interviewed and are required topass an entrance examination set and markedby the NCTJ.

Progression route: FdA Journalism or BA (Hons) MultimediaJournalism Professional Practice.

The need for exercise and healthy living hasnever been more prominent in society than it isnow. This course will equip you with the skills tobecome an effective reflective practitioner in thefitness and massage industry. The course wasdeveloped using the recommendations,requirements and expectations of the sport andfitness industry in general as well as the relevantNational Occupational Standards, Skills Activeand the Sports Massage Association. You willlearn about the practical and theoreticalcomponents of fitness and massage and alsosome elements of business and portfoliobuilding to prepare you for self employment orwork within an organisation.
