    The College is committed to the safety of all students, faculty and staff and continues to follow guidelines provided by the CDC and health officials. Students, employees and visitors will be required to wear face coverings while inside College facilities.

    Individuals are encouraged to bring their own reusable face coverings. Reusable masks will be available for purchase in the GCSC

    Bookstore. Additionally, safety protocols are in place if an employee or student is exposed

    to or contracts COVID-19.The College has also taken additional

    precautionary safety measures including: installing Plexiglas shields in high traffic

    areas; distributing reusable masks to full-time employees; fogging classrooms, labs and public spaces with disinfectant; equipping classrooms with disinfectant wipes; and nightly facilities crews for extra cleaning.

    Who can participate?Education Encore is for adults. You are notrequired to have Florida residency.

    When is it offered?Education Encore is available during the fall and spring semesters. Classes in each semester meet for six consecutive Fridays.

    How do I register online?Follow instructions on page 11.

    What is the cost?The fee for participants is $25 for each six-week course. If you choose to attend all four periods, the cost is $100.

    Where are the classes held?Each course description includes the abbreviated classroom location. Classroom locations will be emailed to students prior to the first day. Additional copies will be available at the welcome station, if needed. Online classes will be held via Zoom. Zoom links will be sent out prior to the start of class.

    Will Lunch Tickets be available for purchase?Lunch tickets will not be available for purchase during the Spring Education Encore. Please bring a packed lunch. Limited items are for sale in the Commodore Market located in Student Union East.

    Explore Liquid Enamel in Jewelry Making – Four PeriodsIn this class, learn to make one-of-a-kind jewelry using liquid enamel and a torch.     Flower Power! - NEWThis is a class all about flowers. Flowering trees, shrubs, vines, perennials and annuals that grow well in the Florida Panhandle will all be discussed. One class will focus on the wide variety of camellias that will bring flowers throughout the Fall and Winter. Another will discuss flowers to attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators.     Environmental Birding - NEWBirding not only connects participants with nature, it provides an invaluable opportunity to contribute to the well-being of the environment by participating in one or more of several Citizen Science projects. Student will learn tools to hones their skill in identification, as well as when, where, and how to look for certain species. Topics such as use of field guides, e-Bird, and other online tools to identify and document bird observations. These tools are simple to use, inform scientists about the “State of the Birds”, and provide a permanent record for birders to track their life-lists. We will cover techniques for attracting more species of backyard birds and provide instruction on how, when, and where to find birds in the field. Student will participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count with an on-campus Field trip in mid- February. Optional Audubon field trips will be available to all students.
