Sinha graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Col. Shrot Singh. Kudos to the go-getters! Aadhya Kaul of class IX and Trisha Bangari of class VIII bagged 3rd prize in Poetry in Voice (poem recitation) in an interschool competition ’Litfest' on 19thJuly, 18 at Greater Valley School.

FLAWLESS ACT!

Yet once again the wonder boy of CSGN, Nitya

Soni (XII) has shown that he is unbeatable, by

winning the first prize, along with his team

members viz. Nisha Sishodia (XII) and Nikita

Sharma (XII), in the Commerce Fest named

‘Waste to Wealth’ organised by G.D. Goenka

School, Greater Noida on 28th August’18.

The objective of the fest was to enhance the

marketing, innovative and managerial skills of

the Commerce students by using waste material for commercial purpose and provide them a platform for

showcasing the same.

The winning team made glue by using waste thermocol and dissolving it in petrol. The innovation was

highly appreciated by the chief guest Mr. Naman Gupta, (founder of CODE Enterprises Alt) who has been

working in the field of waste management for many years.

The best foot forward! CSGN boys claimed a stunning victory by clinching

the first runner up trophy in the 5th Major Dhyan

Chand Inter-school Cross-Country Championship

held at Noida Stadium on 29th Aug’18. More than 25

schools across Delhi -NCR had participated with

around 250 athletes.

Md. Kaif, a student of class IX of CSGN was a front

runner and got a head start in the 5kms Cross-Country

race and grabbed 5th position. He had received a medal

along with a gift hamper for his special achievement.

Kudos to the boy!

CSGN girls also got off to a flying start and were

almost on the home stretch and were able to bring

home the Third Prize in the same event.

Independence Day Celebrations The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with great vigour and patriotic fervor. A special assembly on Independence Day was conducted by students of class XI-B followed by a Patriotic Song Competition. The splendid performances of the young talents included a skit on Rani Lakshmi Bai and dazzling dance performances.

The Principal, Dr. Rekha Bhushan, after flag hoisting, addressed the students on the occasion and urged them to be a part of the government’s endeavour to create a ‘Clean India’ and a ‘Green India’. Students and teachers planted trees around the school campus and a general discussion was held with the students about the scientific names and various characteristics of certain plants. The programme concluded with the national anthem.

Inter-House Competitions: Bringing talent to the fore!

HERITAGE QUIZ

An Inter-House Heritage Quiz was

conducted for the students of classes VI &

VIII and IX in the senior group on August

14, 2018.

The aim of the quiz was to inspire students

to explore the richness and beauty of our

diversity and heritage of our country. The

first prize was awarded to Shivalik house

and Vindhya house stood second. The

children enjoyed the visual and rapid fire

rounds and the audience was very receptive.

PATRIOTIC SONG COMPETITION (SOLO) Patriotism was in the air during the solo song inter-house competition on 15th August’18 and the winners were Vinayak Saxena from Vindhya House and Vedant Joshi and Vidisha Saxena from Jayantia House, Tanishq Maheshwari from Vindhya House and Aditya Sapra from Shivalik House in the senior category.

A ical To facilitate the assessment of children’s growth and

development during school years and to recognize any

health issue early on, a health camp for the students of

classes IX-XII was organized on August 21, 2018 and

August 30, 2018. A team of qualified experts conducted

detailed dental, ear and eye health check-up and

recommended the students to take appropriate precautions

and action to keep themselves healthy and sound.

TEACHER’S DAY- A salute to the

nation-builders!

To reaffirm the conviction that it is teachers

who are beacons in the darkest of nights, the

students of the school celebrated ‘Teachers’

Day’ with splendid zeal and joyous

vibrations! Teachers with excellent results in

Class XII Board were felicitated by the

Principal.

The Prefectorial board took the lead in

organizing this show which had oodles of

entertainment, like, Retro songs, dances,

recitation of a poem dedicated to teachers and

good games to regale the teachers. Principal

Mrs. R. Bhushan appreciated the teachers for

the hard work they are putting in and urged

them to strive for excellence in future too.

WORKSHOPS&SEMINARS

INDIAN NAVY- an ocean of

opportunities:

To apprise students of the vistas of possibilities in

the Navy and also the and also the professional

opportunities and the variety of specializations that

can be pursued in the Navy, and its financial

aspects and the adventurous opportunities, an

eminent and highly decorated naval officer Rear

Admiral Suraj Berry, a missile and Gunnery officer

by specialization, visited the school for making a

relevant presentation. Formerly the Defence

Attaché in Sri Lanka, he played a crucial role in-

coordinating Indian efforts for peace, also selected

for commissioning and commanding INS

VIKRMADITYA, a prestigious honour. He is at

present the Assistant Chief of Staff of Personnel in

the Naval Head Quarters.

Sensitizing adolescent girls about

health and hygiene CSGN has walked the extra mile by involving the

mothers as well in the Health and Hygiene

workshop by Procter and Gamble for girls of

classes VI to VIII organized at CSGN on 13th

July’18. The Resource person Ms. Mrindani

emphasized that as much as education, health and

hygiene are equally important for our adolescent

girls who would soon blossom into young ladies.

Educating girls on menstrual hygiene, and related

physiological changes was the central idea behind

the workshop besides demystifying myths related

to the same issue. The emphasis was on the fact that

during adolescent years of their daughters, mothers

should play the role of a friend.

The workshop gave them a platform where they could ask questions, clarify doubts and voice their opinion

to break the invisible barrier between them. It also strengthened the bond of mothers and daughters through

various activities like guessing each other’s favourite food, colour, actor, etc. Trained experts handled the

topic with care and sensitivity – it was a forum for parents and students to get all their queries handled by

experts.

The mothers felt that it was really helpful to attend the workshop as now they would be able to

communicate in a better way with their young daughters about such a sensitive subject.

Career Counselling Program A career counselling program was organized on Careers in Defence Services on 14th July for classes IX -XII. Col. Shrot Singh from the Assam Regiment, discussed various lucrative career options in Defence Services – Army, Navy & Air Force services.

Fashion Workshop To hone the concepts of artistic and creative

designing in the students, a workshop on

“Develoing Concepts” was organised on 14th August 2018 in Cambridge School Greater Noida.

Highly professional teachers from The Pearl Acadmy, Noida gave a presentation through providing

common place material to be made in to artistical designer articles. Through this activity students were

to discover their creative abilities, so that , they can pursue designer courses in any field, which is the

foundation of designing industry.

Learning Is Everlasting Through Theatre in Education!Through Theater in

Education, creativity can flourish, academics can improve, and means of self-expression can be

developed. Drama can be used to preview or review a History lesson. Students of class X presented a

wonderful theater titled “The Vietnam Saga”. The theater plot was taken from the chapter, “Nationalist

movement in Indo-China.” Celebrating the richness of Hindi - one of the

oldest and most admired languages in the

world, a Theater in Education

presentation was organized by the

students of Class VII on 4th Sept’18. The

students brought out the beauty of the

language through a brilliant and

captivating enactment of the story

‘Mithaiwala’ by the celebrated author

Bhagwati Prasad Vajpai.

Students exhibited a superb show of their

theatrical talent on stage with excellent

dialogue delivery and inimitable flair as well

as confidence.

Tours & Excursions

On 31st of July 2018 ,83 students of class 10th went on an educational trip to Delhi Metro Museum and Philatelic Museum, New Delhi. The students were able to gain a better understanding of importance of Metro Rails in Modern cities as well as delve into the past to glimpse how the metro came into being.

Students of classes 8th, 9th and 11th were taken for a special screening of the movie ‘Soorma’, a comeback story of the hockey legend Sandeep Singh, a biopic that chronicles the life

and times of the famed hockey player, on 27 th Aug’18 at The Great India Place, Noida.

The students enjoyed the movie thoroughly and said that it is one of the best sports

biopics made so far. As a takeaway, the movie inspired them to achieve their goals both

on and off the field.

Visit to Honda Cars factory

Field trips never cease to be interesting at CSGN!

Students of classes XI & XII visited the Honda Cars India limited on August 1, 2018. The

robot function in the Assembly section caught the students’ attention. Students had an

interactive session with the sales executive as well as with the technical executive. They

came to know about the sales details of the company, its journey from Honda motorbikes

to Honda cars, the reasons for Honda cars being considered as more competitive than

other brands of the same segment etc. It was is a rich learning experience, first of its kind.
