EDUCATIONAL SESSIONSWe take pride in offering SE Regional Attendees the most informative educational sessions available in the southeast for fruit & vegetable production. During our 4-day program, we offer more than 85 hours of production training, pest management information and business marketing updates. Take a look at the commodity specific and business oriented conferences we’re offering in 2016:

Business Operations | Blueberry | Blackberry & Raspberry | Food Safety | Muscadine |Organic Peach | Roadside Markets | Strawberry | Vidalia Onions | Vegetable | Watermelon | Wine

These nationally renowned speakers offer a great opportunity for you to increase your knowledge base and market share. Additionally, agricultural scientists will present results of their poster studies for your review.

Be sure to bring your key employees with you to cover all of the concurrent sessions offered. All educational sessions are held at the SITCC, across the Savannah River on Hutchinson Island. See complete program details on pages 10-25.

TRADE SHOWOn our recently expanded trade show floor, you’ll find an exciting assembly of vendors and suppliers to the fruit and vegetable industry. With more than 250 exhibitors already committed to the conference, the 2016 Trade Show provides you the opportunity to network with other growers, observe demonstrations, compare products and learn the latest in fresh produce technology. The Trade Show is open to attendees Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 6:15 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m - 2:30 p.m. Food services, including hot and cold meals, snacks and soft drinks are available on the trade show floor. See pages 6-7 for a complete list of 2016 vendors and suppliers.

SATURDAY MORNING AWARDS SESSIONA special awards presentation will be held on Saturday morning to recognize several individuals who have made major contributions to the fruit and vegetable industry. Be sure to join us as we express our sincere apprecation to these individuals for their outstanding accomplishments. This is a ticketed event. To purchase, fill out the registration form at the back of this booklet or online at www.seregionalconference.com.

INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLEDon’t miss this opportunity to participate in an Industry Roundtable (all organizations GFVGA, Peach Councils, Watermelon, Muscadine, Strawberry, Blueberry, Onion, and Organic Associations are invited) and discuss issues of mutual concern to growers and suppliers alike. This is an excellent forum to voice your opinions and provide input for a 2016 Program of Work to be adopted by the GFVGA Board of Directors in February 2016. A continental breakast will be served. The meeting is Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

“If I only went to one conference a year, the Southeast Fruit & Vegetable Conference would be the one I choose. You have a great meeting!”

At 5:45 p.m., a live auction will be held for several pieces of artwork and special items. Following the Reception and Auction, the evening is open for you to enjoy one of the city's world renouned restaruants on your own.

SATURDAY NIGHT ON THE RIVER AT WESTINThe Saturday night reception is a great wrap-up for three days of education and networking with growers and vendors in the southeastern fruit and vegetable industry. The reception is held at the Westin Savannah Harbor.

SILENT AUCTIONThe Silent Auction has become one of the most popular activities at the conference. Last year’s auction featured products valued at more than $50,000. The items donated by industry suppliers are available to attendees on a bid basis and include seed, chemicals, fertilizer, jewelry, paintings and gift baskets. Funds generated from the Silent Auction go to support educational scholarships and other association activities.

Are you A member of the GeorGiA fruit & VeGetAble Growers AssociAtion?

whAt we Do for the inDustryThe GFVGA provides programs and services to our membership designed to increase production efficiencies, provide educational opportunities, promote new markets, monitor legislation, encourage applied research and improve communications among GFVGA members and industry suppliers.

the mission1) To provide a viable and united voice to represent the fruit

and vegetable industry in Georgia.

2) To encourage efficient production, packing, handling, storing, and processing of fruit and vegetables.

3) To develop marketing and promotional programs to increase public awareness of the health benefits of eating fruits and vegetables and to encourage consumption of more Georgia products.

4) To support applied research that benefits the industry.

serVe. In recent years the need for third party food safety certifications of farms and packing facilities has become increasingly important. To serve the members of GFVGA, Georgia Good Agricultural Practices Food Safety Program (GA GAPP) was created in 2001. In an effort to more clearly state the program’s mission and more efficiently communicate its primary purpose, the program has since been rebranded as Produce Food Safety Services (PFSS).

PFSS now offers clients with economically affordable options for developing all aspects of a customized food safety program. Examples include SOPs, logs, risk assessments, HACCP plans and microbiological plans as well as mock audits and audit escorts. GFVGA members now receive a discount on any services received from PFSS.

speAk.In 2011, GFVGA received the Produce Advocate of the Year Award from the United Fresh Produce Association for our work in magnifying the voices of our members and the produce industry.

The primary goal of GFVGA legislative involvement is to have a voice in the decision making process for our industry. As such, the GFVGA maintains an aggressive program to represent growers in Atlanta and in Washington and the association diligently works to keep members informed of upcoming legislative actions affecting the industry.

We're advocating for you on:

Since the GFVGA was organized in 1996, association members, officers, directors and staff have represented fruit and vegetable growers with testimony at congressional hearings, capitol visits and committee meetings.

promote.Product promotion is a priority for the association. Supported by member sponsorships, the GFVGA marketing program is working hard to help market and promote Georgia produce. GFVGA participates in shows such as PMA, United Fresh, and SE Produce Council. In 2015, the GFVGA launched a consumer outreach blog, called Produce Bites, to further the association's mission to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, and serve the best interests of the produce industry and the growers. The blog includes recipes, nutritional information and production information. We also serve as an ally for growers facing changes in their market, helping create marketing programs to reinstate trust in our growers’ product.

communicAte. Whether it is through the quarterly GFVGA Update Newsletter, the annual Southeast Regional Fruit and Vegetable Conference, member updates, research projects or other means, the Association strives to provide information to increase member’s knowledge and profits.

your focus is proDuce. our focus is you.

Become a part of the team that advocates daily for the produce industry.

Join in our efforts for the 2016 year.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER? • JOIN NOW for a year, or prepay for 2 years and receive a discount. Visit the GFVGA Kiosk at the entrance of the 2016 SE Regional Tradeshow for more
