BiographyHowdy! My name is Chandler Katherine

Smith and I am a freshman Nutritional Science Major from Mission, Texas. But more importantly, I am the loudest and proudest member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2017. I am running for a Senator position for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. My mother and two of my brothers attended Texas A&M and after seeing their steadfast dedication to this university and its traditions I decided that I too wished to experience the Spirit of Aggieland. My first semester here was as wonderful as I had always imagined, filled with Midnight Yells, hours of standing in the Texas sun to watch Johnny football,

and so many other memorable experiences.I am a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, the Pre-Medical AMSA club, Aggieland Crossfit,

and a volunteer for Bryan-College Station Habitat for Humanity. I enjoy the company of felines, almost any book, and friends. After my four years at Texas A&M I plan to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutritional Science and a Minor in Spanish Language. I then hope to attend medical school and become a General Practitioner.

I cannot wait to meet more fellow Aggies through running for Senate and I would like nothing more than to be an advocate for anyone that wants to improve our wonderful university. Thanks & Gig ‘Em!Chandler Katherine SmithPlatform

Howdy! My name is Chandler Katherine Smith and I am a Nutritional Science Major from Mission, Texas. But more importantly I am a loud and proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2017. My love for A&M came from my mother and brothers’ steadfast dedication to this University and its traditions. The Aggie Spirit had much of the same effect on me within just months of my arrival. I am running for a Senator position representing the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. My aspiration to become a Senator comes from my love for Texas A&M and my wish to be a vessel through which my fellow Aggies can voice their concerns and ideas on ways to improve our extraordinary university. More than anything, I want to make sure we hold Texas A&M to the high standard that it has met since this wonderful university’s establishment. Thank you for allowing me to share my ideas and intentions for Texas A&M. I encourage you to vote and let your voice be heard, beginning February 19 th.

Thanks & Gig ‘Em,Chandler Katherine Smith

Ryan CardenasSenateCorps

BiographyHowdy! My name is Ryan Cardenas and I am a Junior Political Science Major from Manassas, Virginia. I am a member of Squadron 2 of the Corps of Cadets and I am running for Student Senate for the Corps of Cadets. I am excited to have the opportunity to run for Student Senate for Texas A&M. I was born in San Antonio, but moved around a lot due to my father being in the Air Force so I was able to take in a lot of different lifestyles across the nation. I came back to Texas as fast as I could and I love everything that Texas A&M has to offer. The Aggie Family is truly above the rest and I see examples of that everyday. I recently studied abroad in Europe and I ran into some Aggies in France and instantly a conversation was sparked between us and it made me feel at home. This is just one of the many examples of this great family. I am currently a member of Aggie Recruitment Committee, which host high school students and give them an in-depth look at Aggieland as they prepare for their decisions to attend A&M. I love impacting future Aggie decisions on whether or not to come to this great institution. Texas A&M is very dear to me and all of its core values have impacted my life and I would be honored to serve as Senator for the Corps.

EngineeringBiography

Hani H. Arafat was born in Amman, Jordan and raised in Kuwait. After graduating with distinction at a private British school in Kuwait, Hani followed in his parents’ footsteps by seeking a college education in the United States.

Just shy of 20 years old, Hani has held several positions of responsibility to date, including Treasurer of the Student Council and House Captain during his high school years. After enrolling at Texas A&M, he quickly sought to get involved on campus and meet as many people as possible. A member of the Aggie Club of Engineers and Arab Student Association, Hani spends a lot of his spare time with the friends he made through those organizations. Currently a sophomore, he can often be found in the computer lounge at the Emerging Technologies Building doing homework or catching up on school work.

Hani is an avid Chelsea FC fan and plays soccer regularly at the Rec. He also plays 5 instruments and is fluent in both English and Arabic.

EngineeringPlatformI will work to -oppose raising fees and tuition for students-support an efficient and intelligent allocation of university funds-work towards ensuring that the Engineering department continues to grow at the rate needed to fulfill the demands of the workforce, not the demands of the University-keep student government accountable-oppose mandatory on-campus housing for freshmen-oppose mandatory meal plans while supporting improving dining on campus-use common sense when voting for legislation that affects Texas A&M and its student body-preserve the traditions of Texas A&M and the standard of excellence it produces in its graduates

BiographyHowdy!

My name is Chris Bomnskie and I am a 32-year-old sophomore Electrical Engineering major from Bryan, TX. Both of my parents went to school, worked for and retired from Texas A&M University.

I graduated from Bryan High School in 2000. In 2002, I received an AAS in Air Conditioning Technology from TSTC in Waco. I worked at Carrier Commercial Service in Austin as a service and building automations technician/project manager for ten years (2002-2012). I joined the United Association (UA) where I received a Journeyman Certificate in 2006. I was asked by the Apprenticeship Coordinator to come back as an instructor. I received a Journeyman Instructor Certificate in 2012 after 5 years of teaching and taking classes at Washtenaw Community College. I attended Austin Community College for seven years before leaving Austin. I spent one year at Blinn College before transferring to Texas A&M University.

I own a rent home in Kyle, TX where I lived before I moved back home to live with my parents and focus on school and the Corps of Cadets.

Becoming an Aggie is a huge accomplishment for me. I applied to no other colleges. I am a member of Aggies for Liberty and The American Society of Mechanical Engineers. I recently volunteered for Aggie Replant in Bastrop. I’m a fire team leader and training corporal in the Corps of Cadets. I hope to join the Corps Triathlon team and become first sergeant, the highest ranking junior in an individual unit.

Austin SpringerSenateEngineering

BiographyHowdy! My name is Austin Springer, and I am seeking reelection in the Engineering caucus of Student Senate. I am currently an Industrial Engineering major, and I am also the loudest and proudest member of the class of 2016, A-A-A-A-A! I am from a little town called Muenster, Texas and I love Texas A&M. I have a passion for serving students, and I hope to continue that during the sixty seventh election as I have in the sixty fifth and sixty sixth sessions. During my term of the sixty sixth session I have served as the Legislative Affairs Chairman, and I have made great strides setting up relationships between our student body, and our state's elected officials. My team and I have worked toward restoring the rivalry between Texas A&M and t.u. as well as pushed for a lobbying team to represent the student body in Austin. As your student senator, I will continue to fight for the needs of my constituents and continue to strengthen ties with our state's legislature. Thanks and Gig 'em!Austin Springer '16

PlatformWhy we run:As current senators, (Austin being elected since the 65th and serving as the Legislative Affairs Chairman, Chris being elected since the 64th) we have a desire to serve the student body of Texas A&M through research, legislation, and advocacy to benefit the students. We are experienced with legislation ranging from dining and parking to academic policy and campus improvement. We have a record of representing student opinions on critical issues, including opposition to the University Advancement Fund, protecting A&M traditions, continued opposition to mandatory meal plans, and advocating to the Board of Regents to strike down tuition increases. Between the two of us, we have authored and sponsored dozens of pieces of legislation, and actively played a role in pursuing a better Texas A&M. These are a few of our specific policy goals for next year:

Continue efforts to repeal mandatory meal plans free 30 minute parking in garages return to first-come/first-serve football tickets System for Construction/Transportation alerts similar to Code Maroon continued active legislation

Rebecca YungSenateEngineering

BiographyMy name is Rebecca Yung. I am a sophomore Chemical Engineering major from Dallas, Texas, but more importantly, I want to represent you in the Texas A&M Student Senate.

PlatformLately, Texas A&M’s Student Government Association has been getting a lot of press—but for all the wrong reasons. I believe we really can do some good, as long as we elect people who care about serving and protecting the student body, rather than furthering their personal agendas. I will seek to make SGA more accountable and

transparent, and minimize internal drama. This will leave us free to focus on things that actually matter to the students.

A few of my platform areas are housing, diversity, dining, and the 25 by 25 Initiative. Texas A&M University is currently considering plans to require all freshmen to live on campus as early as 2015. I think we should gather student opinion about this, and make sure that we have a quality infrastructure in place to handle such an influx of residents. This dovetails with the need to improve our on-campus dining services. This means improving the quality of foods, keeping more restaurants open later, providing cheaper alternatives, and ensuring there are fair options for students with food allergies or dietary restrictions. Another area of focus is diversity. Texas A&M is a beautifully diverse community, and we need to insure that we are treating that as a blessing rather than a curse. This means providing more extensive diversity training to RA’s, doing more to make international students feel welcome and connected, and continuing to improve the campus atmosphere of respect towards all Aggies.

Lastly, as engineering students, we can expect to see a lot of changes due to the 25 by 25 initiative. I will actively seek student input about these changes, and push for student interests to be considered as the plan is implemented. I hope I have your vote, and you will help me make a positive change at Texas A&M University.

Even though my classification may be confusing, my vision for the students in this college is crystal clear: I want to be a part of building the next generation of successful leaders in geosciences. I love

being an Aggie geoscientist and my dedication for this college and university can be proven by my outstanding record of involvement within the college and on campus. I choose to get involved in a way that will allow me to help support my fellow Aggies and global community, and that is why I want to represent the student body of the College of Geosciences in the Student Senate. PlatformAs actively involved students within the college, we feel that we have the insight needed to provide a voice for our peers and we hope to represent the diverse faces of Geosciences.Elora is:-Familiar with the procedures of the college from her experiences while working in the Dean's Office-Actively involved in the Student Geosciences’ Council (SGC) and was vital in planning the Geosciences Career Fair-Has good relations with several organizations and companies on and off-campus from her past and present leadership experiences-Actively participates in the Undergraduate Recruitment Team for the College of Geosciences, as a GeoX student counselor and iGeo host; all programs within the college aimed to recruit and educate high school students about opportunities in geosciences and in the college-Served as an Orientation Leader for the Aggie Orientation Leader Program all summer to help welcome new students to the university by assisting them throughout New Student Conferences, from teaching them Aggie traditions to helping students register for classes.  As leaders in SGC, Elora and Kaitlyn:-Have frequent communication with all majors and departments-Assist in planning and implementing events for the college -Attend most college events -Are in contact with faculty and staff on a regular basis As your student senators we will commit to:-Contact organizations for input on legislation in the Senate-Meet with students regularly to better understand your opinions-Meet with the Dean of Academic Affairs to better understand what is going in the college from an administrative point of view

BiographyHowdy! My Name is Daniel Bosworth and I’m Meteorology

major from Las Vegas, Nevada and the loudest and proudest member of the class of 2015! I however was originally born in Miami, Florida on March 24, 1993. I am first generation aggie and a third generation college student. I joined the corps of cadets in fall 2011 during my freshman year and a member of Squadron 17. I want to help make a difference here at Texas A&M by being a member of the SGA senate.

PlatformReform dining services at Texas A&MIn the recent months here at Texas A&M, many students have been complaining about the dining services here. As SGA senator I would push for a reform of the dining services. These changes would be: lowering the prices of meal plans and having more options, outreaching to the community to get franchise on campus such as subway, and eliminating any requirement to purchase meal plans

More career fairs and exposure to potential employersOne of the major reasons why we come to college is to get started in the career field of our choosing. Career Fairs in our perspective colleges help open the door to that success. As SGA senator I would require all colleges at the minimum have two career fairs per semester. I would also approve excused absents for student who are in job interviews.

Better Transportation and ParkingOne of the hardest thing to do here at Texas A&M is parking. Everyday students spend so much wasted time on parking with over filled parking lots. As SGA Senator I would: increase the number of 30 minute parking space available, give students incentives on carpooling to and from A&M, and open more bus routes and stops for students off-campus.

Cory HungateSenate

College of GeosciencesBiographyCory Hungate grew up in Houston, Texas. His mom, Jenifer, is an interior designer and his dad, Rob, works for Blue Bell Creameries. He has one sister, Elyse, who is a high school sophomore in Houston.

Cory graduated from Cypress Ridge High School. He was captain of his baseball team and was a member of the National Honor Society. Cory was a delegate at the 2011 American Legion Boy’s State and received a congressional nomination to attend the United StatesNaval Academy.

He’s been a bat boy for the Houston Astros for two major league seasons and worked on a civil engineering survey crew. This coming summer, Cory has accepted a geology internship with Tana Exploration in The Woodlands, Texas. At Texas A&M, Cory is a member of the Geology & Geophysics Society and The Energy Club. Recently, he went on a field trip toArkansas with his fellow students in the Geology & Geophysics Society. Cory is currently a sophomore majoring in Geophysics. He also plans to earn minors in Geology and Mathematics.

PlatformMy name is Cory Hungate and I am a candidate to represent the College of Geosciences in the Student Senate at Texas A&M University. I am currently a sophomore majoring in Geophysics.

Geosciences is one of the smallest colleges on our campus. Historically, our group has not been represented in our Student Senate. I want to play a part in changing that trend. There is no reason for our voice not to be heard in our student government.

My goal will be to increase our campus’ familiarity with who we are across all of our disciplines and majors. Once that is accomplished, I will work on ways to better incorporate the skill sets of our students for the betterment of our University as a whole.

I would appreciate your vote and support in the Spring election cycle. I will represent Texas A&M University and the College of Geosciences well.

Geosciences

BiographyHowdy! My name is Kaitlyn Simpson and I am a junior Environmental Studies and Political Science double major from Abilene, Texas. I am currently running as a candidate for the geosciences senator position. During my time here at Texas A&M I have had the opportunity to serve on the Honors Council, which enforces our Aggie Honor Code, as well as mentorship positions with the FOCUS Community and Aggie Gateway to Success. Within our college I am actively involved in the Student Geosciences Council, and currently serve as Vice President of Interior. My primary goal, if elected, is to ensure that students are informed about what is going on in our student senate, and have a chance to voice their opinion to their senate representatives. I look forward to working with all of you in bridging the gap between students and their SGA representatives. Thanks and Gig 'Em!

PlatformAs a candidate for the College of Geosciences senate seats, I have committed to 3 promises to students within my college. If elected I will work to speak with all geosciences organizations to better understand the opinions about senate legislation throughout our diverse college in order to understand the needs of our students. I will also be available once a month in Eller O&M, Room 109 at a TBD time/date to speak with students one-on-one to get opinions from students that may not be involved in a geosciences organization, but would like to voice their opinions on senate matters. Lastly, I will commit to meeting with our Academic Dean of Affairs once a month to better understand what is going on within our college and how I can help our college move forward through my involvement in the student senate. Through these actions I hope to improve the communication between the student senate and the students within the College of Geosciences.

Sydney LeppinSenateLiberal Arts

Biography Every student on campus whether they realize it or not has opinions on things that affect us all. Whether that be overcrowded bus routes, the courses they are required to take, or even that they want different dining options on campus. So why not vote for someone who shares those same opinions? As a communications major I bring in diversity and something new to the usual political science major that typically runs for this position. I think it is important to have a more diverse liberal arts student Senate that can accurately represent the needs of the students. And that includes all majors and people in the college. Last year during these elections the difference

in the number of votes for this position between the winner and the loser was only five votes. That means just five people decided who would represent the entire college. So don’t tell yourself that your vote won’t matter. On voting day remember to get online and make your voice heard and vote for Sydney Leppin for student Senate.

PlatformHowdy! My name is Sydney Leppin and I’m a junior communications major from Austin, Texas, but more importantly I’m the loudest and proudest member of the fighting Texas Aggie class of 2015! Texas A&M has given so much to me during my two and a half years here. I have been amazed by Kyle Field and the theatrical Johnny Football. I have been blessed with a loving sisterhood as an active member of Delta Zeta Sorority thanks to Greek life. Seeing the dedication of the members of the Corps of Cadets has given me a sense of pride that no other student at any other University can imagine. I only feel it as an obligation to give back to the campus that has given me so much. Prior to entering my freshman year at Texas A&M I served as a member of the Williamson County Youth County Council. Being part of an organization such as this gave me an initial chance to experience government first hand. The impact I had on the people whose opinions I represented amazed me. It was this experience that made me want to run for student Senate.

Fernando Javier Sosa

SenateLiberal Arts

BiographyHowdy, I’m Fernando Sosa, a junior political science and Spanish double major. Serving the student body became a main interest of mine long before coming to this great University. During my senior year in high school,

as I searched for organizations at A&M that would provide me with an opportunity to serve, I came across the Student Government Association, an organization I believe plays an important role in being a voice of the students, shaping the direction of the University. For 3 years now, I've had the honor of representing the Southside Residence Halls (freshman and sophomore year) and the Liberal Arts Caucus, which I currently represent. I'm happy to say I've brought solutions to my constituents on a matters of campus safety, from lighting to signage, university dining, to new bike racks with more space for parking and a focus on keeping tuition and fees low, and I’ve managed to keep close communication between my service and constituent-based organizations, including the Residence Hall Association and the Liberal Arts Student Council. My capacities include: -SGA Fee Committee (freshman year)-Southside Caucus Leader (freshman year)-Finance Chair overseeing student fee appropriations for important committees such as CARPOOL, Big Event and Muster (sophomore year)-Rules & Regulations Chair (currently)-Several University Committees (please refer to the attached resume)Allow me to continue to serve you: vote on Feb 20-21 at vote.tamu.edu and share the word with your Liberal Arts friends!Contact me with any questions at [email protected] bless, thanks and Gig'em!

PlatformHowdy!I’m currently serving my 3rd year in Student Senate and my 2nd as an officer, focused on keeping tuition and fees low by working with the Board of Regents, administration, and the executive branch. At the moment, I am finalizing the details to bring 2 scantron vending machines on campus (Scantron Vending Machines Act) in partnership with Barnes & Noble. I authored the MSC 24 Hour Bill (which extended hours during finals). I also authored the Meal Plan Rollover Bill, which called for the transfer of Dining Dollars from the fall to spring semester, an action which went into effect before outsourcing. From student services to academic affairs and university finances, I want to continue to serve students, whether they are in my caucus or not, whether they live on or off campus.By holding opinion booths and attending RHA general and Presidents' Council meetings my freshman and sophomore year, and by building a relationship between the Student Senate Liberal Arts Caucus and the Liberal Arts Student Council this last year as an academic caucus representative since moving off-campus, I have provided a pathway for my constituents to stay informed and involved in SGA policies. I will continue to work with constituents to address issues pertinent to student life and academics on campus. With your support on Feb. 20-21, we can continue to improve the Aggie experience for the current and future generations. Please add to my platform by e-mailing [email protected] and add me on FB: Fernando J Sosa

Matt ValentinSenate

Liberal Arts

BiographyHowdy. I am Matt Valentin. I am a

political science and sociology double major from Tomball, Texas, but more importantly I am the loudest and proudest member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2016

My college experience began where many of yours had: fish camp. During the week I would evolve from a former high school student into an Aggie. This would start the ball rolling. I was encouraged to join a Freshman Leadership Organization, FLARE. My

involvement on campus would exponentially increase from this point. In the spring, I ran for a seat in the 66th session of the Texas A&M Student Senate. I believed that I could make a difference by representing the student body as best as I could in the position. Through no small effort, I gained enough votes to earn a seat in the 66th Session, as well as fill a vacancy in the 65th

Session. I would be tested with difficult decisions a over the next months, but I always stayed true to my constituents.

The following year would see more advancement. I became the event coordinator for the Texas A&M chapter of the Young Americans for Liberty, a member of the University Disciplinary Appeals Panel, and the Caucus Leader for the Liberal Arts representatives in the Student Senate. This brings us to now, and I believe that you should send a vote my way.

Platform I am running on a platform of communication and advocacy. The student senate is

pointless if the students we represent are left in the dark. During my time in senate, I have opted to keep my constituency well informed through setting up tabling sessions for senate members, as well as going to student groups and asking what they want for the future of A&M. This process led to the creation of several bills with the purpose of benefiting both Liberal Arts majors and any A&M student in general. I would continue in these efforts.

Luis FloresNorthside SenatorPlatformThe Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the SGA Student Senate are both organizations that work for the betterment of the Aggie experience for students here at Aggieland. I am running for two positions, Northside Senator and RHA President. As such, I aim to increase communication between these bodies and the student population. RHA is by name and definition an “Association” of the on-campus community. That is why communication and development of communities not only within Residence Halls, but also between Residence Halls is of utmost importance to me. On-campus residents currently have a sense of division, Northside and Southside. As RHA president, I seek to bend that

line, not into one that divides campus, but instead bend it into a circle; a circle that encompasses both Northside and Southside.

Communication is something that I want to increase not only within RHA, but also within the SGA Student Senate. Senators are representatives elected by their caucuses and nothing else. As such, I would continue my current practice of visiting each Residence Hall on-campus and giving Senate updates at all RHA and Hall Council meetings I attend. That is what I already do, but I seek to further elaborate upon that. Meetings are something that have a time limit and so not everybody including myself can attend those. To accommodate and keep as many people “in the loop” as possible, I will create a database of my voting records and a way to post descriptions of each bill that goes through Senate.Biography

My name is Luis C. Flores and I am an Applied Mathematics in Computational Science major and Chemistry minor from Portland, Texas. But most importantly, I am the loudest and the proudest member of the fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2015! I have lived in multiple places including Acapulco, Guerrero in Mexico. Mexico was my place of residence for 12 years until tragedy struck. From one day to the next, I was wheelchair bound and living in McAllen, Texas. This was 8 years ago, and since then I made a promise to myself. Nothing would be an excuse to give anything short of my best. Within four years, I learned how to speak English and moved from McAllen to Portland, Texas.

While in Portland, I eventually made my way to Aggieland. Ever since coming to Texas A&M, I have felt “there's a spirit can ne'er be told” and have worked tirelessly to fuse that spirit into my work ethic. The spirit of Aggieland inspired me to help those around me and to serve them since day one. Since my freshman year, I have been a member of the Council for Minority Student Affairs (CMSA), and the Residence Hall Association (RHA). That however, has not been all I have taken on. Service has been my life, thus I have moved on to serve Students within the SGA Student Senate and CARPOOL. All I ask, is that continue to give me a chance to serve them to the best of my ability.

NorthsideBiographyI was raised in Dallas, Texas for most of my life. I graduated from W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas. I decided to come to A&M because I could not think of a better university to attend. I am a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ’17! (AAAAAAAA!!!!) I am Chemistry major, currently a part of a research team here at Texas A&M. A fun fact about myself is that while in high school, I had an incubator in my closet to incubate E.Coli.

PlatformThings here at A&M are great, however that is not the case for everything. For instance, the food variety here on campus is for a lack of better words, “sucky.” Another change that would benefit this campus and the student body would be a decrease in Beutel’s documentation wait time. It takes them way too long to write a simple excused absence form. And finally, I would work to see an increase in the emphasis and importance given to mental health.

BiographyHowdy, my name is Austin Cantwell, and I am a class of 2016 petroleum engineering student. I am a first generation aggie that was born and raised in the Houston, Texas area. I severed as an interim senator in the 65th session and I served in the 66th session for the engineering caucus. I am also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon in which I currently serve as the vice president of finance. I would love to represent the student body again in this coming year. Thanks and Gig 'em.

PlatformAs a member of the Five for the Future campaign team I have decided to align my ideals with those of the campaign group. Our campaign and candidacy is based around 3 basic principles. The first of which is fiscal responsibility and fiscal conservatism. We want to make sure that we protect the students’ financial interests at A&M and do everything in our power to limit the amount of money they have to pay to receive their education. The second principle we desire to portray is being good stewards of the power given to us by the student body. We desire to acknowledge the responsibilities that come along with this position and to represent the student body and respect their opinions. The final principle we desire to portray is diligence in our work towards our goal of improving student life on and off campus at Texas A&M University.

BiographyHowdy! My name is Bryant Dang and I am junior finance major from Round, Rock TX and I am running to serve you and the rest of the student body as an off-campus senator. During high school I had my first exposure to leadership by being the captain and MVP of the varsity tennis team as well as attending the Outward Bound Leadership Program. Throughout my time here at A&M, I have been involved with the Club Tennis Team, a FLO, the Aggies on Wall Street Program as well as several other organizations within the Mays Business School. I am currently a Vice President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, a member of the Delta Sigma Pi Professional Fraternity, a Peer Leader in the Freshman Business Initiative, and a member of the new Investment Banking Program in Mays.  I believe the Aggie Experience is tremendous and is something that can never be replicated anywhere else. This has led me to run for off-campus senate in hopes of making sure every student at A&M has their own unique and wonderful Aggie Experience. I will be working directly under two Aggie alums this summer at KBW Investment Bank, and through this recruitment process I have seen firsthand the depth and strength of the Aggie Network. It is my goal to preserve and grow it. Hopefully you will find me a worthy candidate to serve on the Student Senate. Thanks and Gig ‘em!

I will be finishing my undergraduate degree this spring and I plan on graduating in May and pursuing my master’s degree here through the Texas A&M Health Science Center. I have enjoyed representing the students and I would love to continue doing so in the Off-Campus Residences caucus for Fall 2014-Spring 2015.

PlatformAs student senator I promise to do the following: put the students first, keep student fees low, create more meal plan

I want students to know they can always call/email me with any questions they have and I will respond. Student senate is here to not only represent the student body but serve them as well.

BiographyHowdy! My name is Aubre Dean. I am a Sophomore International Studies – Politics and Diplomacy Major, Philosophy Minor from Crowley, Texas. I am excited to be running alongside Michael, and Anthony as 3 For Senate for Off-Campus Student Senator positions. Being a first-generation college student, I came to Texas A&M and immediately found home. My primary goal has always been to give back to the university who has already given me so much. I’m privileged to be a delegate for the MSC Spencer Leadership Conference, member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority where I have taken leadership roles as New Member Educator and Ritual Chair. I ask that you help 3 For Senate uphold these ideals and ensure that the voice of every student is heard by electing us as you Off-Campus Senators. Thanks and Gig’em!

From transportation services and campus dining to administration transparency, we promise to fight for you- the Student Body. We are also running because we feel like currently the Student Body is left in the dark about too many important issues. Student senate has the ability to change the campus and we plan to not only write and help pass legislation needed on campus, but to work closer with campus administration to make sure the legislation passed is put into motion. Off-CampusPlatformIf given the opportunity to serve as an Off-Campus Senator I pledge to work directly for the students of Texas A&M. Transparency is something that I find extremely important and I will do all that I can to ensure maximum transparency within SGA. Student's have the right to know what their SGA is working on as it directly relates to them. As our campus continues to grow it is increasingly important to keep tuition low. I will continually fight to keep all prices as low as possible, whether that be tuition/fees or sports passes. Student's should be able to choose the meal plan that they need, I will strive for more affordable or more meal plan choices. I look forward to serving you as an Off-Campus Senator.

BiographyI am from Frisco, Texas. I  love this great university and have a passion to serve the campus as well as the students. I am a member of Beta Upsilon Chi where I serve as the social chair. I have served in SGA while being apart of the Student Financial Aid Advisory Committee where I have acted as a vehicle for students to the Financial Aid department.

Biography

Howdy! My name is Pearson Garnett, and I am a freshman General Studies major from Houston, Texas, but more importantly I am a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2017. A!

Platform

My Campaign and candidacy is based around 3 basic principles. The first principle is fiscal responsibility and conservatism. I want to make sure that I protect the students’ financial interests at Texas A&M. The second principle is being a good steward. I desire to acknowledge the responsibilities that come along with this position and to represent the student body as a whole. The final principle is diligence in my work. My goal is to improve student life on and off campus.

Off-Campus

BiographyI am a Freshman Political Science Major

born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. In high school, I served extensively in student government, having the honor of being a student body officer and serving Texas as a state officer in the Texas Association of Student Councils. In my time since, I have had the honor of serving the roughly 58,000 students at A&M as a member of the legislative relations team in student government, where I have had the honor of serving with an amazing group of hard working Ags looking to represent the student body in the state capital. I am in the largest and oldest FLO on campus, MSC Aggie Leaders of Tomorrow, and most recently I am very excited to have been blessed with the opportunity to help serve the class of 2018 as an Impact counselor.

PlatformI believe that senators should be voices for their constituents, not seats in an assembly room. It seems like the only time that the Senate gets noticed is if it does If elected I will strive for better communication between the Senate and the student. In the first session I will author and sponsor a bill that will require the Senate to release a Bi-weekly email to the entire student body detailing the Senate’s activities. I would also push for better record keeping of Senator votes on individual bills and a method to make the voting record public. The student body deserves to know how their representatives vote. I also support an expansion of services along with the expansion of the student body, a reduction of waste on campus, ending mandatory meal trades, and most importantly: sticking to the Aggie Honor Code and the core values of excellence, integrity, leadership, respect, loyalty, and selfless service.

Off-CampusBiographyAustin Luce is from Corpus Christi, TX. Austin is a member of Beta Upsilon Chi (Brothers Under Christ) Gamma Chapter at Texas A&M and proudly served twice as a Senator for the Off-Campus Caucus, including once as Legislative Affairs Chairman. One of Austin's favorite Aggie memories was attending the final A&M-t.u. rivalry game at Kyle Field.Austin's favorite tradition is "howdy!" He thinks it's a great way to connect with fellow Aggies while walking around campus. As a self-supported college student, he understands the financial burden placed on many in the Aggie family. He prides himself in opposing arbitrary tuition and fee increases and encouraging administrators to find fiscally conservative approaches to funding.

PlatformBy connecting with students, I believe that the Student Government Association can make Texas A&M a better place. Students are the greatest asset to this university and I believe that by reaching out to students, SGA can be an effective force for good at Texas A&M. As a senator, I will always be open to student input. I will always reply to emails by students and do my best to reach out to those that put me in Student SenateI wish to pursue initiatives to provide more meal plan options and more effective bus routes for our student body. As students, we spend a large amount of money attending Texas A&M and we deserve the best from the services we are provided. I hope to work with the administration to optimize these services.

Michael MurthaSenate

Off-Campus

Biography Howdy! My name is Michael Murtha, and I am a Sophomore Psychology Major and Philosophy Minor from Allen, TX. I am honored to be running for Off-Campus Student Senate in a joint campaign with Aubre Dean and Anthony Valdez. As a first generation Aggie, I have had the privilege of falling in love with this university all on my own. From the moment I walked onto this campus I knew it was something special, and as I’ve learned about the traditions and become a part of the amazing Aggie network, my love for this campus has

grown. Because of these things I have gotten involved at A&M in a variety of ways. I am currently a member of Class Councils, Old Army Gentlemen’s Society (Ol’ Ags), Fish Camp, Phi Eta Sigma honor society, and I am a Spencer Leadership Conference delegate. In the past I have been in Fish Council, served as a mentor for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults program at St. Mary’s and worked as an EMT for Texas A&M. Texas A&M is an amazing university, and because of the passion I have for it I would be honored to give back to this university and serve you the student body. Help 3 For Senate help you by electing us as your Off-Campus Student Senators. Gig ‘em and God bless!

PlatformTexas A&M is a great university. But just like any other university, there are things that can be improved. For those living off-campus, there are three major areas Aubre Dean, Anthony Valdez, and I would like to see improvement in as 3 For Senate. And for the student body as a whole, there is one area we believe that would help unite this university even more. First off, for those living off-campus, we would like to see more bus routes, more buses, and transportation services staying open later on days of special events to promote tradition and give the students rides to things such as Silver Taps and Muster. Along with that we would like to see an increase in the amount of parking spaces available to students, and a decrease in the cost of the permits they buy. We believe this is very possible with a continually growing population at A&M. And lastly, while not all off-campus students use dining dollars, those that do use them deserve a greater variety of increments available for purchase and they deserve their money back if they do not spend it all. To serve Texas A&M as a whole, 3 For Senate wants to promote a more transparent SGA. We want the student body to know what is happening in their student government, and to be a part of the policy that affects them.

We want to make sure that we protect the students’ financial interests at A&M and do everything in our power to limit the amount of money they have to pay to receive their education. The second pillar we desire to portray is being good stewards of the power given to us by the student body. We desire to acknowledge the responsibilities that come along with this position and to represent the student body and respect their opinions. The final pillar we desire to portray is diligence in our work towards our goal of improving student life on and off campus at Texas A&M University.

aspect of student life from parking and dining to repeatedly petitioning the Board of Regents to oppose increased fees and tuition.

I firmly believe students are the best stewards of their own tuition and fee money and deserve the best value for their dollar, and it is our duty in Student Senate to protect these investments that students make in their education and lives. I also believe that the problems in SGA could be solved if we all got together and went fishing on the weekends.

Outside of Senate, I coach football, weightlifting, track, and PE at Brazos Christian High School, attend to various church commitments, and strive to spend more time during the week fishing than studying.

Andy Habib

Biography

Howdy! My name is Andy Habib, and I am a biology major from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am currently running for the student senate seat representing the College of Science. There is no place in the entire world quite like Texas A&M, with its unique traditions, its caring student body, and its long-held values such as honor, integrity and courage. I am running on these exact principles- principles that entail my utmost devotion to you, the students who keep this university thriving every day. I am running as a candidate who will always stand up for what is right, and never allow my principles, the Aggie principles, to be tarnished. I want to begin fighting the fights that many others simply avoid because they seem “too lofty” or “unattainable.” I want to address any issues you may have within our own college and even beyond. Issues ranging from inside the classroom and chemistry labs all the way to campus aesthetic appeal would all be welcomed and brought up confidently before the rest of the senate and administrators in charge. We are the generation that has the ability to mold the future for Aggies fifty years from now, so that they will look back upon our time here and remember how courageously we stood up and made a difference, and fought for the betterment of this great land, Aggieland. Vote for me, I will represent you with boldness and integrity. Vote Andy Habib for Student Senate (College Of Science).

BiographyHowdy! My name is Shane Rodocker, and I’m a sophomore Chemistry major from Temple, TX, but more importantly I’m a loud and proud member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2016! A-A-A-A-A! If elected, I feel it is my responsibility to the College of Science, and the University as a whole to oppose raising the prices of fees and tuition for students, as well as defending the right of students to oppose compulsory meal plans for on-campus students. I will also strive to keep the Senate morally and ethically bounded by the principles and traditions that make Texas A&M such a great University. By committing myself to these tasks, I believe that I can do my part to keep the excellence of the Aggie spirit alive.

Thanks and Gig ‘Em!

Zachary ThornburgSenate

SouthsideBiographyFirst off, I am a proud member of the fighting Texas Aggie class of 2017. I am an aerospace engineering major in the Dwight Look College of Engineering, and a proud resident of Mosher Hall. I am originally from the Bryan and College station area, so I have lived and breathed Texas A&M University traditions and experiences since I was a small child.

I first got involved on campus when I was elected president of my hall during the fall semester of 2013. I have pushed to make living in Mosher Hall more enjoyable for all of its residents. I further got involved in organizations, specifically the Residence Hall Association by applying for and receiving the position of National Communications Coordinator In-Training of

the Residence Hall Association executive team. Additionally I applied to become a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary, which is comprised of the top 1% of on campus student leaders of most universities across the nation, which is aimed towards the recognition of excellent leaders here on campus, and was accepted. With these positions, as well as influence, I have served the on campus community here at Texas A&M University unconditionally, and hope to bring this mentality of selfless service to the senate for the greater

benefit of southside.

PlatformAs Southside Senator, I aspire to not only represent Southside as their delegate but to push for positive initiatives that further promote and advance the on-campus living experience of south side residents.

Southside makes up for a large portion of the on-campus student body community at Texas A&M University. Southside deserves to have proper representation that is dedicated to showcasing the voice of its residents in light of important initiatives. I hope to do this by being an active voice in senate, listening to the voice of the residents and conveying their desires to the senate, and addressing each proposal of the senate with a defined level of scrutiny. The residents of south side have been denied this proper representation in the past, from my experiences here at Texas A&M University and for any positive progress to be made for south side this issue must be resolved.

I aspire to make the living experience of the south side community more enjoyable for the south side residents. I wish to do this by pushing for improvements to the south side modular, and commons, residence halls such as adding more recreational activities for the residents to utilize on south side and in the commons rather than having to locate elsewhere to enjoy such facilities. I also desire to push for

initiatives that will allow us to make Southside more aesthetically pleasing so that living in the community of Southside is more enjoyable.
