KSSR ENGLISH TAHAP 1 EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS (EMK) CREATIVITY The ability to produce something new in an imaginative and fun-filled way. Some activities include mask-making or puppets-making, role-play and crafts making. ENTREPRENEURSHIP Elements that are linked with entrepreneurship are creativity, innovation and initiative, which are attributes for personal fulfillment and success. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY These will include the use of multimedia resources as well as computer related activities. VALUES AND CITIZENSHIP Patriotism and the love for Malaysia as well as the love for the surrounding environments and people. MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE Elements that promote the development of pupils’ distinguished intelligence such as verbal-linguistic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, logical- mathematical and lastly naturalistic. LEARNING HOW TO LEARN Pupils learn basic skills such as listen, view, read, select and retain. Other skills include able to skim and scan in order to get information fast and efficiently. Able to summarize and make notes of important ideas. MASTERY LEARNING An approach to ensure all pupils masters the learning outcomes in the learning unit before proceeding to the next unit. This approach takes into account the time needed by the pupils to master the learning standards and requires a quality teaching- learning process. Examples: Enrichment activities/Remedial activities. CONTEXTUAL LEARNING Using the situation pupils are familiar with as contexts for the topic being learnt.
