Yeldegirmeni is located northeast of Haydarpasa train station and north of the Kadikoy waterfront.
In these analyses it can be seen that there is a high density of buildings and no empty spaces. this brings the problem of “lack of public space”.

From these questionnaires we can see that almost no one uses Uzunhafız Street to walk on. We can also see that very few people spend their time in TAK(Kadıköy Design Studio), because they haven’t heard about it before.

A platform has been designed to be put over the railroad, which is soundproof and insulated for the vibration
impact that trains could make below the platform. An arts center has been designed to become a new meeting point in Yeldegirmeni, both for the locals of the neigh-
borhood and the people coming from outside. The platfrom has been divided into 3 parts;
the first one being an extension to TAK, in which outdoor architectural workshops will take place. The middle part is where the arts center is going to be, and the third part is an extension to the arts center, in which outdoor art ac-
tivities for both children and adults are going to take place. the “art platform” of Yeldegirmeni is planned to become a new landmark of Kadikoy, and a public space

always be kept.
Uzunhafız Street İs the longest street that con-nects Yeldegirmeni to the waterfront, yet nobody seems to use this street frequently.
Pedestrianizing the street would allow people to enjoy their walking time in Yelde-girmeni and make it so much easier to go around.

The area is accessible from two points, one en-tering area 1 and the other skipping area 1 and directly reaching area 2 . Buildings are designed to guide the user to the desired area. user to the desired area.
TUZLA is the southernmost province of Istanbul. The Tuzla shipyard is located on the northwestern border of Tuzla. Formerly being a beach, the shipyard area today now consists of 48 individual shipyards, which is the largest in Turkey.The main problem in the area is that it is too small to contain this many ship-yards. Another case is that the area is restricted to public access, so only workers or people with special permission are allowed to enter the area. Since the shipyards have been present since 1980, now it has made a place in the people’s “urban memory”, making it a bad idea to remove the shipyards completely.
The idea is to try to connect the city and the shipyard, letting people in and through, attracting them inside, thus making the shipyard “alive” once again.
The project consists of 3 areas, connected with each other. The design “guides” people through the whole area, creating them a “tour route”. The docks of the shipyard are the main design reference to this pro-ject. The docks have a common pattern: they look like they have been stuck into the coastal line like nee-dles, but can’t seem to pierce through. The inspiration of the design came from this, piercing the coastal line and letting the nature “flow” into the area, like opening a blocked waterway.
The old tile factory here is transformed into a research center. Entering the research center area, visi-tors can see and learn about marine life and people’s relation with water. In the workshops visitors can take interactive courses on how boats are built, how to make proper sailing equipment, model boats and so on. Educational classrooms are made to teach people about marine ecosystems and his-tory. There are also audio and video rooms in which people can listen and watch to learn. Model boats and real boat parts that are made in the workshops are put in display every month in the exhibi-tion area, so it’s constantly changing. There is also a huge library where curious visitors can take learning to an upper level.

After exiting the research center, visitors can use the ramp structure to go down to the entrance of the second area. The ramp is the building itself, which had multiple uses. It serves both as a connection between areas, and as the entrance of the Arts Center. It also serves as a terrace from which visitors can enjoy a view. In other words, the ramp works in 3 different elevations. Visitors can enter the Arts Center from below the ramp, where there is a passage with cafes and small shops to have a small break. After going through the passage, users arrive at the lobby. From there, they can either see the exhibitions inside, or go directly to area 3. A special “underwater exhibition” is available for people to exhibitions inside, or go directly to area 3. A special “underwater exhibition” is available for people to visit. Located below the ramp structure, it goes underground to create an illusion as if it is underwater. Lighting and reflections on the walls and the ceiling has been used to create this underwater effect. There are also 4 more exibition rooms in the Arts Center. Two of them are planned to be permanent, while the other two will host temporary exhibitions. Two exits to area 3 are available in the structure.

_AREA 3: ENTERTAINMENTArea 3 is accessible from two points. If visitors take the first exit from the Arts Centre, they arrive in the sculpture square. They can relax on the urban furniture while enjoying an open air sculpture ex-hibit. Following here, visitors are guided into a “music street”, a special street with music booths throughout the way. Visitors can see street musicians performing indoors now, if they are interested they can also use the equipment to make their own music. Three large studios are present for bigger events, and five small studios for smaller activities. Visitors will be able hear different tastes of music while passing through the street. After enjoying a musical walk, visitors can finish the jourof music while passing through the street. After enjoying a musical walk, visitors can finish the jour-ney by relaxing in the green square, or having fun in the water square. Both are designed from linear elements which are continuous strips of stone and wood. They sometimes form a bench to sit on, and sometimes a bridge to cross. In the water square, visitors can enjoy some model boat races and the sea breeze taken into the area. There is also an entertainment center which is located in the middle of area 3, where people can have fun with games such as billiards, ping pong and table football.
After passing area 3, visitors arrive at the transportation area. This area is thought to serve for future developments when or if the shipyard zone undergoes a major renovation and function change. As more and more facilities start to appear throughout the bay, public transportation between spaces would become a necessity. Along with land transportation, sea transportation would also be of use. Therefore, a public ferry transportation has been created, making use of the existent docks. Here, visitors will be able to cross between available stops, both making transportation easier and enjoying the view of the sea. Certain ferries may also offer a cruise around the coastline, passing by every the view of the sea.
