Educaonal Progress/Operaons and Technology Levies Replacement Levies in Graph Form As noted last month, February 13 th voters living within Columbia School District boundaries will be asked to consider two ballot replacement proposions for the Columbia School District—an Educaonal Programs and Operaons (EPO) Levy (previously known as a Maintenance and Operaons Levy) and a Technology Levy. The esmated rate of $3.30/$1000 for the EPO levy remains flat for the next four years; the technology levy rate goes from esmated $.47/$1000 to $.53/$1000 and then drops over the next four years to $.48/$1000. As opposed to describing these in words, I chose to show these visually in the graph that follows. This graph shows the combined levies and bonds since 2011 and through the next four years. (This chart includes the 20-year bond that largely went to modernize our high school and expired last month; it also includes the new and lower 5-year bond that will largely upgrade our elementary school.) Since 2011, the total esmated rates for the two levies plus the bonds moves lower by more than $200/$100,000 of assessed home property value. If you have quesons or want more informaon about the new proposed replacement levies, our school board and I invite you to aend one of the 7:00pm levy informaon forums (Charbonneau Fire Staon: Monday, January 8; Burbank Library: Tuesday, January 16; or Wallula Fire Staon: Wednesday, January 17). FFA NEWS On December 1, RDO Equipment put on a customer appreciation dinner and event. Columbia- Burbank FFA was asked to come in and help out. RDO needed students to sell raffle tickets, talk up auction items, help serve dinner, and bus tables. For their efforts they were rewarded handsomely. Thanks to RDO's generosity and desire to support the future of agriculture, all of the money that was raised in the silent auction and raffle was donated to the Columbia-Burbank FFA. In one night RDO raised $1,128.00. Although this is the first time that the Columbia-Burbank FFA Chapter was invited to this event, this is not a new event for RDO Equipment. Each year they host this event they invite a different FFA chapter from the area to help out and be the benefactors of their colossal event. The Columbia-Burbank FFA would like to thank RDO for their generosity, investment in their community and the future of agriculture . This collaborative project challenged students to think about issues of national significance while expressing their view point on the topic. Because of this, the Columbia School District may declare snow routes from time to time for Dodd Road, Iverson Road and Wallula bus routes. If you hear we are driving emergency snow routes you will need to have your students’ board and depart the bus at the Crazy Mary’s parking lot or at the Wallula Post office. Also, E. Humorist/Hilltop will board on Merry Lane.

Any time there is questionable weather please check our website scrolling banner at www.csd400.org for detailed information, or listen to KONA 610 AM or 105.3 FM or watch KNDU TV channel 25.
