EDUCATIONAL VISIT REPORT
On the inspiration of Freedom Fighter Late Shri. Bhausaheb Thorat, Founder of Amrutvahini
Sheti and Shikshan Vikas Sanstha’s and Honorable Shri. Balasaheb Bhausaheb Thorat., MLC,
Government of Maharashtra and Chairman of Amrutvahini Sheti and Shikshan Vikas Sanstha’s
and with kind support of, Dr. Sudhirji Tambe., MLC, Government of Maharashtra and Trustee of
Amrutvahini Sheti and Shikshan Vikas Sanstha’s college since 2004 every year conducted
various educational visits. Educational visits include visit of students at Industrial unit, institute
or any medicinal and ornamental plants gardens. A basic purpose of educational & institute visit
is to aware students regarding actual practice as well as to enhance basic knowledge and career
awareness in students.

Report:
Apart from the academic curricular of the students, college has organized an educational visit
for the students for improving their practical knowledge and present status. College encourage
to under-graduate (Final Year B. Pharm) students to visit at Research & Development (R & D
Laboratory) of Central Government AYUSH Department’s Regional Ayurveda Institute for
Fundamental Research (RAIFR), Kothrud Pune for aware to research process, instrumentation
and also to develop their Research Skill. College organize visit at this centre to aware various
medicinal plants, basic ayurvedic dosage form preparation , tissue culture and biotechnology on
13th September 2019 (Friday).
The visit started at morning 06.00 am and along with 44 students, we were reached at
Regional Ayurveda Institute for Fundamental Research (RAIFR), Kothrud Pune at 11.00 am.
After reach at centre we had prime interaction with Dr. Sharad D. Pawar, Research Officer,
Scientist-2 (Pharmacology) and Dr. G. P. Prasad, Head & Officer incharge of Institute. Dr. Sharad
D. Pawar introduces by prime presentation with the details of RAIFR and also about the
different departments. He gave information that this institute is run under Central Government
AYUSH Department and funded with different research project.
We had started visit with Medicinal Plants Garden Department belongs to ayurvedic and herbal
medicines. Students saw were number of herbal medicinal plants as well as traditional
ayurvedic herbs which gave thousands of year their contribution in therapeutics. Student aware
about various species of medicinal plants and keenly observed the species differentiation. They
observed traditional medicinal plants such as Kalmegh (Andrographis paniculata),
Amla (Emblica officinalis), Annato (Bixa orellana), Beheda (Terminalia belerica), Cinnamon
(Cinnamomum zeylanicum), Hirda (Terminalia chebula), Liquorice (Glyccyrihiza glabra),

Sarpagandha (Rauwolfia serpentiana), and number of other species such as Umber (Ficus
glomerata), Pimpal (Ficus bengalensis), Vad (Ficus religiosa), Gulvel (Tinospora cardifolia) and
medicinal herbs.
Dr. Shard D. Pawar also explained details of various departments of RAIFR such as
Biochemistry, Pathology, Botany, Pharmacognosy, Biotechnology & Tissue Culture and
Pharmacology. Students get aware the significance of various departments in research with
their available facility includes sophisticated instruments such as heavy duty Centrifuge,
Lyophilizer, Liquid Chromatography (LC), Liquid Chromatography- Mass Spectroscopy (LC-MS)
and High Performance Thin layer Chromatography (HPTLC). He also focused to giving
information to the students about preparation and standardization of ayurvedic formulation,
product and ayurvedic formulations of company.

After Visit Students, Teaching Staff and Faculty of Research Scientist at RAIFR Centre
The officials at Regional Ayurveda Institute for Fundamental Research (RAIFR), Kothrud,
Pune were impressed with curiosity of our students to learn the research process and new
research projects at Centers. The students were also escorted by accompanied faculty
Dr. V. S. More, Mr. M. V. Mahale and Ms. R. M. Davange. The students were very happy and felt
enriched after visiting at both centers.
