I have made a career of “thinking outside the fashion box”, constantly stretching design and sewing conventions to develop new skills and creativity. I create unique, eye-catching garments that are both casually simple and wonderfully imaginative. Always an enthusiast for the unusual, I design pieces that are often whimsical, using a variety of 'materials' to create a certain expression. Since 1985, I have created custom designs and pattern making for individual clients to small manufacturers. Today the business includes my own line of fashion patterns, art stamps, sewing supplies and all the fun toys to create your own wearable art.

Ten years ago, after many years of fashion, craft and home dec sewing, I ventured into the world of quilting. Never comfortable with the restrictions and precision of pieced quilts, I was drawn to the freedom of landscape art quilts. I started my “Deezines” Pattern company which allows me to turn an idea into a drawing to become a pattern for others to create small wall hangings. When I discovered a technique that completely eliminates the tiresome and time consuming tracing process, I knew that others would love to hear about it. I do constant demos of my technique in my booth at quilt shows, in classes around the Northwest and at yearly retreats that we host through thequiltetrillium.com.

Shelly Fitzgerald comes into your event or classroom with a mixture of enthusiasm and knowledge that quickly attracts and holds the interest of the participants. Overlocking to software, garment sewing to machine embroidery, quilting to Home Dec, Shelly has a love and understanding of the topics and the BERNINA machines, software, feet and accessories that accomplish each task.

Sewing and crafting all of her life allows years of experience to be passed on in a lively and informative way. She freely admits to reading all the manuals for pleasure and then loves teaching what she has learned to her classes. Bringing the out of the ordinary to front and center by encouraging everyone to change their settings (gasp!) use a punch tool (eek!) ruffle, ruffle, ruffle (wow!) and sew with their left foot (no way!) she shows how easy it is to kick it up a notch or two by using any BERNINA product to its full potential. She makes it fun- not hard- and leaves everyone excited about his or her new tools and skills.

Through her company, Sew Shelly Quilts, LLC, Shelly creates and presents original patterns and classes to bring the extended capabilities of all of the BERNINA products to life. Her classes are rich with techniques and software is her passion. In addition, she is a 4-year member of the BERNINA Event Team, which has brought the Sewapalooza to you.

“The only thing I like better than sewing and creating is teaching others about how to do the same. When you can show someone everything BERNINA products can really do you open such a world of possibility. It is so rewarding to hear to “ah ha” moments at events and in the classroom.”

Art in any form has been a part of my life forever. If it can be used for art, I will try it. I love experimenting in any medium I can get my hands on. After being tied-down to a computer for 17 years as a graphic designer and then web designer, I discovered beading. For over 19 years, I have been able to share my passion by creating bead patterns. Teaching others how to bead has brought tremendous joy. The quilts at the shows have since inspired another extension for me to create art. I love to create detailed appliqué art quilts inspired by nature and other images that bloom in my mind. I am always discovering new ways to combine beadwork with other mediums. Come bead with me!

My love of designing started when I took a fashion design class in high school and started designing all my own clothes. When my daughters were born I enjoyed making them matching outfits – back then they thought it was cool. I was a Girl Scout leader for over 20 years where we tried almost every craft on the planet and they even had their own booth at craft fairs. We started a design company in 2010 and really enjoy creating patterns that make people smile – the mission for our company is to inspire creativity in others!

My style is easy and fun with a flair for detail. I like to work with a basic design, generally a garment or handbag, and make several that look entirely different using a variety of thread embellishments, piecing, or embroidery ideas. I like to use the tools that make the tasks easier and more accurate. Having acquired an interest in sewing at a very early age, Linda has been teaching a variety of sewing techniques through her business, Ghee’s, for 37 years. Very much a machinist, Linda likes to show her students how easy it is to acquire professional results when you know the proper techniques. She has designed numerous handbag and garment patterns. Her award winning books make stitching easy and fun. She travels the globe teaching at stores, guilds, and conventions, as well as makes TV appearances. Visit her web at www.ghees.com

I have sewn since I was 10 years old in 4-H. It didn't start out so well, but practice makes you better, not perfect. My favorite part is the embellishment in clothing. In 1994, I started using hot fix crystals, then iron on designs which lead to a little business called Sue's Sparklers. I traveled the country doing sewing and quilt shows, demonstrations and classes. I sold the business in 2007 and got back in 2015. Simply wouldn't go away. We have grown to include a laser cutter which cuts my stencils and appliques. With spray painting the stencils and adding embellishment to that and adding crystals to the appliqued wall hangings, there truly are not limits to creativity.
