Distance Education Learning Technology Applications

EDUCAUSE 2001

NC State Board of Visitors – March, 1997

“Competitive advantage in the new education market will

belong to providers that effectively use technology.

Success will belong to those providers – whether

universities, community colleges, or businesses – that

facilitate the fusion of work and learning for employees

and that innovate with emerging technologies to

provide faster, more effective access to knowledge”

EDUCAUSE 2001

Opportunities for NC State

Expand access

Alleviate capacity constraints

Build graduate enrollments

Capitalize on new market opportunities

Catalyze technology-enhanced learning in traditional academic programs

Provide flexible access opportunities for traditional students

EDUCAUSE 2001

Mission - To build a tradition of excellence in

technology mediated teaching and learning for the NC State academic community, whether at a distance or on campus.

Goal - An integrated academic model for NC

State, where the student body is a continuum spanning traditional to non-traditional, where these students may participate in learning on campus or off, and where technology is as natural for the faculty as chalk.
