The COBIT Awareness training is a two-hour introductory training session that

COB1010 COBIT Foundation Course (e-learning)

The COBIT Foundation Course helps IT, Audit, Risk and Compliance professionals

to master COBIT and apply this knowledge in a practical manner within the

organizations they support.

The COBIT Framework is explained using practical examples and a case study-

driven approach. All other components from the COBIT toolkit such as Audit

Guidelines, Management Guidelines and Control Objectives are addressed as well.

The course helps professionals understand how COBIT can be used in a logical and

understandable manner and validates this knowledge through assessments and

quizzes. An exam preparation module is included in the course, which prepares the

COB1030: COBIT Foundation Exam (online)

The COBIT Foundation Exam is a knowledge test,

which can be taken online through the Internet.

Candidates taking the exam can demonstrate that

they understand and master COBIT. The questions in

the exam are tailored to the COBIT Foundation

Curriculum. However, candidates can also take the

exam without completing the course. Candidates who

complete the COBIT Foundation Course and pass the

exam obtain 8 CPE credits from ISACA.

COB1013: COBIT for Sarbanes Oxley Compliance (e-learning)

To ensure effective internal controls over financial reporting, controls are needed in

IT systems and the environment. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act results in a requirement

for effective controls over IT systems and environments. Participants who are

taking this four-hour e-learning course learn more about this act and the

implications of compliance on the IT organization.

The participants learn how COBIT, the COSO compliant standard, can be used to

comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. A practical roadmap is used and

The two-day classroom implementation workshop helps participants understand

Proposed education structure

ITpreneurs proposes an educational structure for organizations interested in

adopting the COBIT Framework. This program focuses on developing COBIT skills

and implementation knowledge in the organization for selected audiences in an

organization.

The following structure is proposed using the metro map image displayed above:

- PHASE 1: IT development staff, IT management, operational staff

undergo the e-learning COBIT Awareness course: The objective of this

program is to provide an insight into the need for a control framework such as

COBIT. COBIT is explained at a high level to help learners understand the

components and use of COBIT. This training is used as part of an Awareness

campaign to develop an understanding for the implementation.

- PHASE 2: IT management and Audit professionals undergo the COBIT

Foundation Course and complete and pass the COBIT Foundation Exam:

For IT management professionals and IT audit professionals COBIT becomes

part of their day to day life. Setting up controls, validating the control

framework, providing structured information to IT Management and managing

the external auditors, all require a thorough understanding of the COBIT

Framework. The COBIT Foundation Exam validates these teams master COBIT

at a Foundation level. An official certificate is provided by ISACA; the authority

in this domain.

- PHASE 3: The implementation team learns the implementation

considerations through an advanced workshop: The advanced workshop

‘Implementing IT governance using COBIT’ helps these professionals to

effectively manage the implementation. In a classroom workshop environment

students learn to understand and apply a roadmap to implementation.

Students participating in the e-learning Foundation course in Phase II will be

supported by an instructor who is available in the background. Two conference call

sessions are organized for these students: one at the beginning of the course and

one at the end of the course. The first conference call will help the students in

understanding the training program they have entered and prepares them for the

different modules in the training course.

The conference call at the end of the course is used to prepare students for taking

on the COBIT Foundation Exam. Any issues or questions will be discussed in this

conference call and final preparations will be conducted. After the conference call

students will take on the COBIT Foundation Exam.
