Solution Manual Guide
Chapter 2: Dimensioning
If the function and purpose of a part is not known we can only make an educated guess as to what are the important surfaces (i.e. datum features). Therefore, the solutions given in this solution manual illustrate one possible way of dimensioning the object. There are other ways to dimension each object while still following the dimensioning rules. Chapter 5: Threads and Fasteners
Multiple answers are sometimes given for the screw and bolt clearance holes. This is because there are three sources that a student could choose from; 1) the general rule of thumb given within the chapter, 2) clearance holes for specific fasteners given in Appendix B, and 3) clearance hole for bolts and screws B.5).
Multiple answers are sometimes given for counterbore and countersink diameters. This is because there are two sources that a student could choose from; 1) the general rule of thumb given within the chapter and 2) diameters given in Appendix B.
