Our teachers have worked very hard to provide the best educational experiences for your children. However, we could not do it without your help and support. We appreciate your participation in our Kid Biz and Raise A Reader challenges by helping your children at home. Your attendance at our school events, like our parent evenings, Curriculum Fair, and Spring into Reading has been tremendous. Your help with volunteering for field trips and classroom events made these events possible. Thank you to everyone who ordered from our fall and spring fundraisers, and contributed to all of our recycling projects. We want to extend a very special thank you to our community partners: * Mililani Lions Club, Mililani Sunrise Rotary, Papa John’s Pizza, Mc Donald’s of Mililani and the 84th Engineers for the time and resources for specific programs in the school. *To Representative Ryan Yamane who is helping us find funds for our kindergarten playground equipment and to renovate our stage. I want to especially thank our outgoing SCC Council and Hui ‘O Mililani Uka Board members for all their hard work this past year. Current students in grades 2-5 students can continue their learning by using Kid Biz and students in grade 3-5 may continue to use the Math Whizz program over the summer. In addition, they can use a new program called SOAR to help them with reading and math skills. Let’s all keep on learning this summer. We wish a very fond aloha to our families and staff that will be leaving us. We hope that your experiences here at Mililani Uka have been positive ones and you will take with you great memories of our school. Working together we make Mililani Uka a special place of learning! Dear Parents and Friends:

In spite of our furloughs, our students have had many wonderful learning experiences this year.

Spring into Reading

A Raise A Reader

ChallengeEvent

Mahalo to the Hui O Mililani Uka and our community partners and parents for their support of reading! The 84th Engineers with assistance from the Mililani High School Interact members read to students by grade level. Miss Hawaii 2009, Raeceen Woolford helped open the evening with reading questions and prizes and was a group reader for our students. Parents were read to and heard the impor-tance of reading aloud by the President of Read to Me International, Mrs. Lynn Waihee.

Where do we stand with our reading challenge? As of press time, 262 Mililani Uka students are logging their reading minutes and have accumulated 152295 minutes of reading. We have exceeded our goal of 100,000 minutes but the challenge continues until 5:59 Hawaii time on May 31st. We hope you will continue to read and log minutes up until the final day of the challenge! Let’s see if we can double our minutes! Mahalo to all the families who support their students reading efforts!
