Onomatopoeia: is the process of creating a word that phonetically imitates, resembles, or suggests the sound that it describes. Such words are themselves also called onomatopoeias. Common onomatopoeias include animal noises such as "oink", "meow", "roar" and "chirp"

Art III: Day 11-16: Art III’s for your next couple projects I want you to start going through your portfolio or build-up of works of art you have done so far that you deem worthy of putting into a portfolio. If you are interested in Art IV, you must develop a portfolio that consists of “ Your Concentration” and then at least 12 works that consist of “your breath”. If you still have your Visual Journal keep doing the projects that I have set out for you and that I have described for you to do. This will help you get closer to a portfolio!

Art III : Day 15 & 16:Next project/ Packet will be a large project that hits on a Self-Portrait that is creative, different, explorative, and should be an interesting new way of looking at yourself to be able to tell a story within your art work. However, this practice will allow you to understand more creative self-portrait positions, along with the Roy Lichtenstein pop art self-portraits to start.

You Should be able to draw yourself or someone else in a foreshortened composition! This should be one of your projects that I have put in your Visual Journal! It comes with a lot!Basically, For Day 15-16: I want you to develop a foreshortened self- portrait! It can be in what-ever art medium you are most comfortable with; charcoal, pencil, colored pencil, painting, etc.

If you need to you may use a photo to work from that you

may GRID in order to help yourself stay accurate to proportions, size, depth, & value.

Foreshortening: Create an art piece that uses foreshortening as a key component in the composition. Think about distortion and perspective in the space. Use color to enhance the feeling of the subject matter coming out of the picture plane.fore•short•en: 1. To shorten the lines of (an object) in a drawing or other representation so as to produce an illusion of projection or extension in space

Goal:Choose a challenging point of view from which to create your piece. Familiarize yourself with the correct way to see in order to draw to overcome inhibitions of such a challenging approach while observing a foreshortened figure.

Constraints:1) Work large enough to create a feeling of depth. At least 11x14” if you can2) Define the following terms in your Visual Journal: Chromatic Value & Emphasis

Artists to Examine: (Choose one to research and write about in your Visual Journal, show examples of their work and give your opinion about their style and work.)Marc ChagallJan Van EyckGiovanni BelliniDeborah ButterfieldMary FrankNancy GravesRogier Van Der WeydenAndre DerainCamille Pissaro

Suggestions: Arrange a group of objects, one of which has a greater length and projection towards the observer. Magnify the length of this object so that it seems to reach the limit of, or beyond, the format. The other objects will occupy their normal spatial position. Utilize depth of field when observing your subject. Use color combinations that enhance the object around which you’re concentrating. Think about the subject placement.
