EIONET Forum – focus on the network

• Organised in 3 instances

• FORUM core EIONET network activities based on permanent groups (NRC, NFP and ETC)

• PROJECTS new established as platform for groups with expected lifespan of up to 2-3 years

• ARCHIVES to sort out outdated material and provide a place for outdated IGs from CIRCA but keep content available on demand

– All is part of EIONET (FORUM – PROJECTS – ARCHIVES)– Non EIONET centric work hosted under Enviro Windows

EIONET ForumInterest Group

• Corresponds to a community of users for sharing content

• It is either restricted (not public) or publicly accessible

• An independent group with administration and management only for that specific group

• Users are– Anonymous– authenticated

• Levels of permission for authenticated users are– Administrator– Contributor– Viewer

• You will have most time either – viewing permission - you have the right to see and

download content– Contributor permission – you can upload content

and create new elements• For NRC interest groups NRC and NFP roles have

permission + explicit nominated external experts – difference from role (nominated national…) to community of users sharing content

• User requests (higher) permission: – Viewer, Reviewer (specific to some tools), Contributor

• As a NRC involve your NFP

• A simple container; similar to the ones in the operating systems

• Can have their own access settings

• The creator is also the maintainer: Owners can edit their objects

• Its own page, as an object with meta information, before downloading/opening the actual uploaded file

• Not a container

• Can have multiple actual files attached (but conceptually versions of the same file)

• Output: provide a file for download

• A user actively subscribes for notification• You need to be logged in

• You can select either you would like to get an instant, daily, weekly or monthly notification

• You can decide what you are interested in– Part of the content tree only (only for specific folders)– Only for specific content types
