Rue Entrance—Update Starting Monday, students should resume using the HoLa black gate entrance on 3rd street for arrivals and dismissals. Reminder that all visitors and latecomers to Rue should check in at the Main HOPES entrance at Garden Street. You will need to show the security guard a form of ID and be signed in. Lead Testing HOPES conducted lead testing throughout the Rue Building this week, and we are pleased to report that the results indicate that our tap water passed normal drinking water standards. Testing has also been conducted at the Jefferson Street building, and we are awaiting results. HoLa’s First Volleyball Game! HoLa’s newly formed volleyball team, led by Srta. Martinho, will play in its first match against Link Community Charter School next Wednesday, April 27, 4:30­6pm in the Jefferson gym. Come cheer them on! Library Collection ­ We Need Books! Our Rue Library book drive is ongoing! We need Spanish language novels and non­fiction resources and reference materials such as dictionaries, thesauruses, encyclopedias in both languages. Donations can be dropped off at the Main Office in either building. Something to keep in mind: if you’re going on vacation to a Spanish­speaking country, pop by a bookstore while there and grab a couple of youth books to donate. These are resources that we can’t access easily, so it would be a huge help! Storm Drain Art Project All of the murals are complete! See HoLa’s contributions at:

Collection for Ecuador The Luceros are participating in a collection for victims of the earthquake in Ecuador and asks the HoLa community to join in! Please send in children's summer clothing and canned goods to the main office in either building. Donations will be picked up and are scheduled to be sent to Ecuador on May 3rd! Coffee Cans for Science Olympiad Calling all coffee drinkers! We need empty coffee cans with their lids for the Elementary Science Olympiad Can Race. 1 Week of Mad Science Kids' Lab Half-Day Summer Camp – $165 ($225 Retail)

Mad Science camps offer a daily combination of in-class discovery and exploration, outdoor games and physical

There is NO camp fee. This is a free volunteer opportunity for qualified candidates. No

registration for camp required. The hours accumulated will go toward his/her portfolio

for High School. The deadline to submit the essay and recommendations is May 2,
