El subjuntivo en cláusulas sustantivas
The subjunctive is used to express
volition and will, feelings and emotions, doubt, uncertainnty, and probability
in different ways.

1. To recommend or request:
Te recomiendo que vayas a la exhibición de arte dramático esta tarde en el Museo de Arte Vivo.
Nos piden que compremos unos grabados de unos edificios de la universidad.

2. To express wishes:
Deseo que mis estudiantes conozcan el arte de Velázquez.
Espero que podamos ir a España este verano para visitar sus museos.

3. To report on others’ requests, recommendations, or wishes:
José y Gregorio quieren que sus padres los lleven al Museo del Prado este verano.

4. To express feelings and emotions:
Nos gusta que quieras pintar un mural en este lado del edificio.

5. To communicate doubts and probability:
Marco no cree que ellos sepan apreciar su arte.

The subjunctive is also used to express the possibility that something or someone is
uncertain or nonexistent.
Notice the following examples.

I am looking for an artist who can paint some portraits of my children for a reasonable price.

With the following conjunctions, either the indicative or the subjunctive can be used:

To determine which is needed – subjunctive or indicative – ask the question:
From the point of view of the speaker, has the action already ocurred?

If the action has ocurred, the indicative is needed.
Le compraron una acuarela aunque costó mucho dinero.
They bought her a watercolor even though it cost a lot.

If the action has not ocurred, the subjunctive must be used.
Vamos a ver los murales tan pronto como lleguen mis hermanos.
We will go see the murals as soon as my siblings arrive.

In a sentence with no change of subject, the prepositions antes de, después de, and hasta are followed by the infinitive.
Necesitamos pasar por el taller antes de salir de viaje.

Cláusulas condicionales de si – parte 1
Cláusulas condicionales de si A si (if) clause states a condition that must be met in order for something else to happen. This condition is likely to take place. The verb in the then clause describes what could happen. The verb in a simple si clause states a fact and is usually in the present indicative, while the verb in the resultant clause is in the present or future tense or is a command.
Si vas al cine, iré contigo.If you go to the movies, I will go with you.
Si deseas ver una telenovela, dímelo.If you want to see a soap opera, tell me.
Si quieres, veremos la película.If you want, we will see the movie.
Cláusulas condicionales de si
Use this “formula” when expressing if/then statements in which the verb following si is in the present indicative.
Si (if) + present indicative + (then) present indicative + (then) future + (then) command

Si quieres, podemos escuchar el Concierto de Aranjuez de
Joaquín Rodrigo.
If you want, we can listen to Concierto de Aranjuez by
Joaquín Rodrigo.
Si vas al teatro depues, iré contigo.
If you go to the theater afterward, I’ll go with you.
Si tienes ganas de escuchar y bailar flamenco, vete al bar La Trocha.
If you feel like listening and dancing to flamenco, go to
the La Trocha bar.
