What are State Registries?
V I D E O
The first early childhood professional development registry was created in Wisconsin and was known as “The Registry.”
One of The Registry’s early goals was to provide recognition for early childhood professionals who have historically been under-recognized as a profession.
The Registry provided a way for practitioners to track their professional development achievements and to plan for future training through a posted training calendar.

• The National Workforce Registry Alliance is a private, non-profit, voluntary organization of early childhood and afterschool workforce registry and professional development leaders.
• The Alliance provides registries across the country with resources and data related to support for the workforce, standards of quality for workforce data systems, and a strong national voice driving relevant policies and initiatives.
• 42 member registries/states, plus additional professional organization members
Trainer/Training Approval and Reciprocity• The Alliance is committed to continuing conversations
around trainer and training approval, as well as reciprocity
• Work includes:
• Including trainer/training approval policies as part of Alliance Partnership Eligibility Review (PER)
• Regional pilot around training reciprocity• Initial focus is on CCDBG health and safety training
• Data exchange standards ad hoc group• Alliance Training Organization Recognition
Training Organization Recognition• Intended to facilitate approval processes
between registries and training organizations
• Currently 12 organizations are approved
• Training organizations must apply and meet specific criteria related to qualifications of instructors and design of training content
• Registries choose to incorporate the recognition within their process in various ways
• Alliance Goal: 50% of registries will incorporate this recognition into their approval processes
Criteria for Training Organization Recognition• Organizations demonstrate the following:
• Instructors have knowledge of adult learning principles• Instructors have professional knowledge and qualifications to teach
in the content area of the training• Training provided has clearly stated learning outcomes for the
participants• Training content is appropriate to and designed for early care and
education or afterschool workers• The hour or CEU value of training is consistently and properly
calculated• Training completion is properly documented and stored
