NATIONAL SEMINAR ON DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

OF SOLAR PV STANDALONE AND GRID CONNECTED

SYSTEM UNDER PARTIAL SHADING CONDITIONS.

A National level seminar has been organized by Dr. S.Sarojini

Mary, Assistant Professor, EEE dept. on “Design and

development of solar PV standalone and grid connected system

under partial shading conditions”. Dr. N.Raja shekar from Vellore

institute of technology addressed the students regarding solar

energy. 37 participants from all over the state have participated.

OZONE DAY

Ozone day has been organized in SRM trichy campus for SRM

medical arts, allied health sciences, TRPEC, IHM. 5 teams from

each institute has participated in group of 9 members. Prof. G.

Balakrishnan has organized quiz for 45 members in BC roy hall,

SRM medical campus. Mr. G.Ramprakash, Assistant Professor,

EEE dept. has coordinated the event. Ozone day has been

celebrated to aware the students regarding environmental

changes . This will remind people to keep up momentum to

ensure healthy people and a healthy planet.

ENGINEER’S DAY

Engineers day has been organized on 18.09.2019 by ECE-HOD.

Mr.S.Ganesh has coordinated the event in Electrical & Electronics

dept. and conducted paper presentation, project expo, quiz

competition, Technical debate, poster presentation and speech

Industrial visit-ISRO, Sriharikota

An industrial visit to SDSC-SHAR (ISRO), Sriharikota has been

organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics

Engineering of SRM TRP ENGINEERING COLLEGE , for 12

students of EEE II & III & IV year on 12th September, 2019.

The objective of the visit was to provide a Technical Exposure to

the students about Space Technology and advancements in

Technology. The visit not only provided a good insight into the

quality of research happening in the area of space technology but

also gave great exposure to the students about the future career

prospects and area of research in applied sciences. Following

students went to the industrial visit:-

Industrial visit-ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri.

An industrial visit to ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri has been

organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of SRM TRP

ENGINEERING COLLEGE , for 12 students of EEE II & III & IV year on 12th

September, 2019. ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri is equipped

with the state-of-the-art facilities necessary for realising the cutting edge propulsion

technology products for the Indian space programme. Formerly, IPRC was known as

LPSC, Mahendragiri and taking cognizance of the future growth of the space

program of our nation and the concomitant expansion at Mahendragiri, it was

elevated as IPRC with effect from February 01, 2014.

The activities carried out at IPRC, Mahendragiri are: assembly, integration and

testing of earth storable propellant engines, cryogenic engines and stages for launch

vehicles; high altitude testing of upper stage engines and spacecraft thrusters as well as

testing of its sub systems; production and supply of cryogenic propellants for Indian

cryogenic rocket programme, etc.

Industrial visit-NEYVELI LIGNITE

CORPORATION (NLC) LIMITED

An Industrial Visit for 51 students from Final year and Third year vhas been

organized to acquire knowledge about the power generation in Neyveli lignite

corporation (NLC) limited, they were accompanied by the faculties

(Mr.N.Vengadachalam Mr.V.Vengatesan & Mrs.B.Kavitha) to ensure safety in their

visit . In NLC, the engineers gave a detailed explanation about the site and the on-

going process in the plant. The installed plant capacity is 2,740 MW. The plant

receives the coal from Mines 1 and Mines 2 in Neyveli. The coal used is lignite

which has more amount of ash content. The coal is transported through belt

conveyor before getting it to the boilers. Students had a look at the pre heating

process and the types of fans used for the cooling process. The plant engineers also

explained about ash handling and ash filtration processes.
