ELECTRICITY

By Anesu and Zadran

What is a conductor?

• A conductor is a object that allows electrons to flow through .e.g. metal.

• Really good conductors would be copper, silver and gold.

What is a insulator?

• An insulator is something that does not allow the passage of heat or sound.

• Plastic, paper, food and etc, are all insulators.

Where does our electricity come from in NZ?

• Electricity comes from power stations.• Electricity from power stations goes to

pilons.• From pilons to our street wires to our

homes

What is a fuse and what does it do?

• A fuse melts and breaks the electric circuit if the current exceeds a safe level.

How do our lights turn on

• When you flick the switch off you are putting a break in the circuit and the electrons will not be able to flow.

But when you turn on the light you are making a complete circuit.
