Morning Keynote

11:05am – 12:20pm

The sudden rise in interest and attention given to health informationtechnology has led to a number of ideas, concepts, and products (such asEHRs) designed to improve care in a medical environment. However, withFederal & State Governments, along with organizations such as the Instituteof Medicine, emphasizing efficient, effective and high-quality care, the use ofan EHR that collects clinical and non-clinical data is paramount. Proprietary-based EHRs pose advantages in the health care arena, but the use of open-source EHRs provides a high-degree of flexibility; a shorter development cyclegiven the community of users and developers around open-source; and theability to learn and improve each time the system is used. What will be covered:• Definition of open-source

• Myths vs. realities of open-source EHRs• Utilization of open-source EHRs across all medical environments• Effect of open-source EHRs in workflow, process and quality of care How you will benefit:• Learn about what defines an open-source system and what does not• Discover how open-source can work in your environment better than you

imagined• Learn how open-source can capture both clinical and non-clinical elements

for each patientSession Leader: Jason C. Goldwater, MA, MPA, Principal and AccountDirector, SRA International, Inc

Radical Transformation in Health Care: The Utilization of Open-Source EHRs

This Master Class is designed to encourage in depth discussions towards the topics at hand by dedicating more timeto each session in a classroom style setting. Hear from the leaders in Government and Military, then learn from thosehelping them to provide the solutions to their health IT needs.
