Technology Department Update for October
Helpdesk Issues: WiFi access not available Training Plans: Migration to Google Sites from other platforms Project Update: Initial equipment and cost for Electronic Media
classes
Wireless Networking Issues
Helpdesk Tickets since the start of the school year reporting users not able to connect to BYOD Wireless network
Typically reported in Lunchroom during Lunch or in the Gym during Athletic Events by more than 1 user
Network Administrator has checked the DHCP server and found IP addresses are available during those times
Wireless controller shows that access points in those areas are maxed out
Solution will be to deploy additional access points in those areas to increase capacity
Technology Department will research options for next meeting
Google Sites Training Planned
Many teacher sites currently on Weebly, Wix, and other content management systems
Encouraging users to migrate to Google Sites for tighter integration with the Google Docs roll-out
Teachers will be able to securely share material with student accounts
Training sessions to be scheduled for in-service days Training to be provided by teachers already using Google Sites in
partnership with Technology Department Sessions may be recorded on video for teachers who are unable
to attend
