Wireless data transmission has evolved frombeing a popular technology to be almost arequirement for most portable devices.Standards such as Wifi 802.11b/g/n arecommonly available in different form factorswith standard connectors such as USB, I2C,MiniPCIe, allowing them to be easily integratedin practically any kind of device.
Industrial and commercial applications such asRF security systems, RF meter readers, RFinventory control systems, wireless handheldPOS terminals, are simple applications that canbe engineered in a few months, having a custommade solution with specific requirements foryour needs.
GPS linked to software applications can beimplemented in a wide range of scenarios, fromlocation, tracking, and control to securitysystems using custom made receivers—from asmall USB stick sized device with a small LCD, toa portable media player—and transmitters thatcan be easily included on existing structures.

Modular and custom designed RF solutionsWe offer small RF Modules for low prices inquantity, which means that a whole range ofnew low‐cost electronics becomes possible.Smaller form factors also allow greater flexibilityfor industrial designs, achieving devices thatwere not possible before; the key is finding agood balance between portability, battery life,and coverage. Mold making and Plastic Injection
Injection mold making in China can be a lotcheaper than in the West, and even more soonce you understand how to adapt plastic partsdesigns to the particularities of Chinese injectionmolders.
Through the low labor rates in China there is avery different balance between fixed cost andvariable costs. To lower assembly cost Westernengineers sometimes come up with extremelycomplex part designs, which require veryexpensive molds. In China we often save ourclients money by splitting such complex parts upin 2 simple ones, which are then assembled fornext to nothing.
Similarly, adding a rubber grip to a drill handlewill quadruple your mold cost if you go for a co‐injection mold in the West. In China we mold theABS handle in one mold, and then place thatsame handle into a second mold, where the stillwarm handle is overmolded with TPR rubber.
Most everybody knows that plastic molds fromChina are cheap, but there are also many horrorstories around. If mold making in China goeswrong, it tends to go wrong in quite a big way.Our engineers assure full conformity to Westernquality standards and on‐time delivery of parts.
Our Western management team is permanentlylocated in Taiwan and China and hasaccumulated many years of experience workingin the region.
Titoma offers its Western clients a significant cost reduction (often more than 50%) on injection molds.
IP Protection in China and Taiwan
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) inChina is a big concern for many of our clients,and understandably so. Stories abound ofproducts being copied, and even of factoriesusing the molds that you paid for to make andsell your product behind your back.
That's why at Titoma we go to great lengths toprotect the confidentiality of our clients' ideasand inventions. This is actually one of the mainreasons people prefer to work with us ratherthan just handing their idea to an unknownfactory somewhere in China.
Even though most of our mass production isdone in China, we still prefer to keepdevelopment in Taiwan. Our usual strategy is todo pilot production in Taiwan, and only after theproduct is stable and available in the market dowe move mass production to China. This isgenerally a very easy transfer because workmethods are so similar.
We always pay a realistic fee for tooling anddevelopment, this way there is no doubt as towho owns what. Many IP problems we haveseen arose when development or tooling wereoffered free or far below cost, and the client'ssales numbers did not meet rosy forecasts. Sincethe client was not able to sell, the manufacturerfeels morally justified in making back hisinvestment by doing the selling himself.
We like to design in one critical, hard‐to‐copy component without which the product won't work, and deliver that component to the factory on a strictly as needed basis.
