The band performed beautifully and we are in a good position for 2018 with the Training Band combining with the Concert band for their first performance together. The Year 6 soloists were exceptional. There were so many highlights that you do not know where to start. I am so proud of Year 6 and of how far they have come over the years. They will be missed next year. I would also like to thank all of our parent helpers who assisted with transporting equipment, students and with preparations for the night. Mrs Nicole Kelly was amazing in her efforts to coordinate the raffle and to assist with the event and sponsorship. A special mention to Mrs Brooke Lewis for compiling and creating the program and Mr Steve Bradbury for putting together the slideshow. Matthew Walsh, Jason Mitchell and Jack Doughty assisted with sound and lights to enhance a truly professional event. Mr May was instrumental in his compering, keeping the night informative, fun and well under time. Thank you Ms Fittock and conductors for keeping the children organised and prepared. In other news, Training Band 2018 instrumentation is almost finalised. We have decided to give all applicants an instrument in Training Band and have done our best to give students an instrument appropriate to choice and mouth shape.

Congratulations Mia Congratulations to Mia S who competed in Melbourne in National Cheerleading Competitions. Mia’s team, The Black Canaries, won first place in their division , youth level 2, and are now National Champions (alongside their state championship win earlier this year).

Library News Library Borrowing Borrowing in the library has ceased for the year. Thank you to the wonderful students who have returned their library books. We do encourage students to return their loans as soon as possible, as all students with outstanding loans will be sent an overdue notice this week. We are hoping that the cost for lost and damaged books will be recovered by the end of the year. Library Monitors 2018 Congratulations to our 2018 library monitors! Our successful applicants were announced at a special assembly this morning. We will publish the names of our wonderful monitors in next week’s newsletter. Ebooks Although the borrowing of paper books has ceased for the year, students can still opt to borrow our school ebooks. If logging into Oliver from their student portal at home, students can borrow ebooks to read on laptops or desktops. If reading from a mobile device, the Wheelers ePlatform app will need to be downloaded to access the school’s ebooks. This really is a great way to keep kids reading through the holidays. Thank you, Mrs Candice Gibson and Mrs Dorin Suciu

A new school ‘Pick Up & Go’ student marshalling initiative will be commencing each afternoon from Day 1 at Eleebana School in 2018 in Bronwen Avenue. Under this system, a driver pulls in to a designated No Parking Zone (our Kiss & Drop Zone) and the Principal (or supervising executive staff member) will assist the student/s to exit or enter the vehicle from the kerbside doors only.

The afternoon ‘Pick Up & Go’ student marshalling initiative has a number of safety advantages for school students that include:

Relieving traffic congestion around the school by ensuring cars don’t park for long periods of time in the No Parking zone;

Providing adult supervision for students being picked up from the school; and,

Managing the various transport options available in the school environment.

How to Register: To participate in this initiative, parents/carers will need to register with the office to obtain a sign that will need to be displayed in the front left side of your windscreen at all pick up times.

If you are interested in participating, please contact the office.
