superficial to deep partial thickness burns.1-5

Aids and supports autolytic debridement and a moist wound healing environment.6-9

Significant absorption capability that converts exudate into gel and locks it within

the dressing, while maintaining a moist wound-healing environment. Directly absorbs

MMPs (proteases) and reduces their effect, which promotes healing.10

Cationic Biocide – polyDADMAC – bound to the dressing substrate which acts as a

protective barrier against a broad spectrum of opportunistic pathogens, including MRSA.11

Application and Removal1. Wash hands thoroughly

2. Apply gloves

3. Assess the wound. Look for signs of healing. Also look for any signs of increased redness, pain, swelling, or heat within or around the wound†

4. Cleanse the wound and skin around the wound with sterile saline, sterile water, or other safe wound cleansers

5. Dry the skin around the wound by patting gently with gauze

6. Protect the skin around the wound to avoid maceration. Apply a skin protectant barrier wipe or barrier ointment as necessary. (An initial increase in exudates may occur)

7. Choose a MediHoney dressing that is appropriate for the amount of drainage:

— MediHoney Paste or MediHoney Gel for lightly to moderately exudating wounds that are hard to dress

— MediHoney HCS for non-draining to lightly exudating wounds that are superficial to partial thickness wounds

— MediHoney Calcium Alginate dressing for moderate to heavily exudating wounds

8. Apply the appropriate dressing to fit the wound. The Calcium Alginate dressing may be cut to fit within the wound bed, while it is permissible for the HCS non-adhesive dressing to overlap wound edges and rest on intact skin.

9. Apply secondary absorbent dressing to manage exudate

10. Apply tertiary dressing to protect from outside pathogens

11. Dressing change: Remove the dressing gently. If the dressing is difficult to remove, moisten with saline or water.
