A message from the principal...

Dear Imagine Families,

We have had such a great first week of school! As I walked throughclassrooms, lunch periods and the hallways, I observed happy students andhappy teachers that were engaging in learning and following school andclassroom rules. Check out some of the moments we captured at the end ofthis newsletter.

Our daily WIN ("What I Need") time will begin on Monday, August 19th.WIN time is a daily, thirty minute block where students are grouped bytheir academic areas of need. Students work with their WIN time teacherto strengthen their reading skills, and math skills are also incorporated onFridays. SEL (Social Emotional Learning) time will also begin on Monday, August19th. The SEL block is fifteen to thirty minutes each day when classes

participate in morning circles or SEL activities. Classes will use SecondStep, an SEL curriculum granted through a Sarasota County EducationFoundation grant last school year, and Mind Yeti, a mindfulness site. Thistime allows for students to strengthen social and emotional skills including,but not limited to, self awareness, self regulation, decision making, and peerto peer relationships.

This newsletter is packed with information. In this issue you will learnabout upcoming benchmark assessments, meet our Support Specialists, andthere are numerous flyers explaining activities that students can getinvolved in after school. I hope that you enjoy reading this week'snewsletter, and I hope that you have a great weekend!

STAR and i-Ready Assessments On Monday, August 19, we will begin the STAR and i-Ready ComputerAdaptive Tests for math and reading for students in grades 1-5. Teacherswill use these formative assessments to collect instructional data about ourstudents in order to plan and individualize instruction for each student. Ifyou have questions please do not hesitate to contact our TestingCoordinator, Tony Graham, at [email protected] or 941-426-2050, extension 209.

Lunch VisitorsParents, if you are planning to come to eat lunch with your child, and youare planning to buy a school lunch, please call it in to the front office by8:30am so that we can make sure we have enough food. Art Class 2019-2020Sometimes art is messy. Your Student will need a "smock" for Art Class(just an old, baggy t-shirt to cover their clothes.) This will be stored in theirclassroom cubby or in their backpack. They can bring it with them ontheir scheduled Art Special each week. Please make sure your student hasa smock by week two of school. Thank you!

Last week you met our teachers and theLeadership Team. Now it is time to

meet our Support Specialists!

Francesca Hull, Office Manager, is originally fromStamford, CT. She has been with Imagine for 12 years, eversince the school opened. She has been working in schools for27 years. She loves spending time with her family, ZUMBAand shopping.

Tam Chung, Attendance Clerk and Cafeteria Aide,was Born in Vietnam and raised in Massachusetts. Theyoungest of 7 siblings, she enjoys fishing, cooking, andwatching football and baseball. Her favorite teams arenone other than The N.E. Patriots and The Boston RedSox. She also loves to dine out and spend quality timewith her spouse of 23 years and 2 boys, ages 14 and 12.

Fred Caster, Facilities Manager, isin his eleventh year at ISNP. He isoriginally from upstate New York buthas lived in Florida for the pastfourteen years. He has two sons,Brandon and Nikolas, who both attended ISNP in the

past. Mr. Fred loves the New York Giants, golfing, and spending time with hisfamily. He is building a new house and is excited to see the final product. Heenjoys being part of the SHARK family, and is excited for the 19-20 school year!

Stephanie Catlin, Elementary Registrar, has been withImagine for ten years. Originally from Ohio, she loves totravel and spend time with her family. She has four children10, 12, 15 and 17, two of them attending Imagine. She lovesher Shark family and is excited to start another year atImagine. Go Sharks!

Shaunna Bellis-Nottingham, Cafeteria Aide, is a native Floridian from St.Petersburg, FL. She appreciates the opportunity to work with your children inthe cafeteria and various areas at ISNP. She has a passion for children and loveshelping them meet their needs with anything from handing them a napkin tobringing a smile to their face. Ms. Shaunna has a love for Imagine. She and herhusband Rob have two children who attend ISNP, Khalan who started inKindergarten and is now at our Upper Campus in 7th grade and Isaiah who alsostarted in Kindergarten and is now in 3rd grade. She is thankful for the amazingeducators she is surrounded by, the leadership and staff that truly care abouteach child. Shaunna adores her family and loves the beach and Disney! She looksforward to a great 2019-2020 school year while growing and learning onpurpose.

Dominic Spagnoli, Cafeteria Aide, was born in Florida. He iscurrently a college student at USF Sarasota- Manatee andworking his way to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in History. Heis an alumni of Imagine School at North Port and was a partof the first graduating class in 2015.

Donna M. Duda, Health Aide, isoriginally from New Jersey, but moved toPort Charlotte 33 years ago to get awayfrom the cold, gloomy winters. She

attended NSFI&A in New Jersey to study CommercialInterior Design and worked in that field for over 10 yearsbefore deciding decided to start a family with her husband.They are blessed with 3 beautiful children. Realizing thatshe loved working with children more than designing workspaces, she was offered a position as a Health Aide atImagine School and was sent for training. She has been working at Imagine for10 years and has never had a more satisfying job caring of your little ones. Everychild that comes to see me her is treated as if they were her own, becausethat's how she would want her own child treated!When she is not driving her daughter to competitive cheerleading in Fort Myersshe spends her free time reading. She also loves vacationing with her family andscuba diving in the Keys.

Deja Emil, Cafeteria Manager, has been in our ElementaryCafeteria going on four years. She previously worked with theBaby Sharks, and in the Aftercare Program. Her daughter is a10th grader, and her son is a 7th grader, both at the ISNPUpper Campus. They both have been here since Kindergarten!She also has a background in Massage Therapy, is a ReikiMaster, and is currently being certified in Mindfulness

Meditation. In her spare time, she likes to bake, likes crafts, and loves tovolunteer with the ISNP Band for her kids!

Robert "MR. DUG" Stetter, TransportationDirector for both campuses, is originally fromBelmar, NJ. He joined the US Navy in 1983, then after the Navywent to work for a school in New Jersey in theGrounds and Maintenance Department. He retiredfrom the NJEA after 25 years and moved to Florida.

In 2011, Mr. Dug joined Imagine's team and has loved every minute of helping theschool grow. He started his own business with his lovely wife Marti-who is alsoon staff at Imagine as an administrative substitute. Together they manage arace timing company called DURTI RUNNERS Race Timing (the DU is for DUGand the RTI is for Marti). They have managed running events for non-profits forthe last four years and have helped generate over $623,256.00 for theindividual non- profits. They are both looking forward to another great year atImagine School at North Port!

Ron Van Pelt, Director of InformationTechnology for both campuses, is in his seventhyear working at ISNP. He is currently working onhis Master's Degree in Digital Forensics at theUniversity of Central Florida online. He hopes tobe finished with it in the Spring of 2020. When heis not working he is most likely spending time withhis wife Amy (who also works at Imagine) and her

three daughters. For fun, Mr. Van Pelt likes to go camping and fishing, and helikes to watch live sports. He is glad to be a Shark!

Stacy Kohler, Human Resources and Payroll andBenefits Manager for both campuses, has been withISNP for 12 years. She has over 20 years ofexperience with human resources and really enjoystaking care of the staff at the largest Imagine Schoolin Florida. In addition to her main role, she is also ourAthletics Department Assistant for the Upper Campus sports programs. Havingtwo kids attending Imagine since they were in kindergarten, they keep her busywith Imagine School volleyball and extracurricular activities. Originally fromMichigan, Mrs. Kohler is a hockey fan and loves the Detroit Red Wings. Shebelieves sports make you better equipped in dealing with teamwork, overcomingstruggles and achieving the thrill of success that comes with working hard andnever giving up.

Patricia Godwin, Business Manager for both campuses, hasbeen with ISNP since 2012. Previous to her current positionshe has served in our Baby Sharks Preschool and in the UpperCampus Cafeteria. Mrs. Godwin loves spending time with hertwo adult children, both are former Sharks! We are gratefulto Mrs. Godwin's dedication to keeping the accountingdepartment organized and all of our bills paid on time!

meaningful contribution to community and society.

Meet our Coaches: Hi! My name is Brittany Crosswell and I am a Girls on the Run coach. I

have coached Girls on the Run for three seasons.I am also a Leadership and Wellness coach who has competed in Track

and Field and X-C collegiately and post-collegiately with my careerbeginning in Elementary school. I am passionate about the Girls on the

Run program and value the skills that young girls recognize, discover andinternalize throughout the course of the program.

I am excited about this season, together, let's inspire our young girls to bejoyful, healthful and confident, now and into the future. If you have

Coach Lauren is originally from Steubenville, Ohio, but moved to Floridafour years ago. She is a first grade teacher at Imagine and has taught 4thand 5th grade at Imagine too! Coach Lauren ran track in high school forall 4 years. She still loves to run and has done competed in many races,

5Ks, 10ks, and half marathons, in both Ohio and Florida. She cannot waitto work with the 3rd-5th grade girls to help teach them important life skillswhile having fun! Coach Lauren is so excited to be coaching GOTR again

at Imagine and excited for the 5K in downtown St. Pete on Dec. 14th. Happy Running!
