We are Safe We are Respectful We are Focused ELERMORE ENDEAVOUR Term 3 Week 3 9 August 2019 Dear Parents and Carers, I had the absolute pleasure of attending my first IILA Excellence Assembly this week as a part of Education Week. Students were recognised from Year 3 through to 6 for their effort and application to their education. Congratulations to our award winners on the day – Iluka B, Leo L, Mia B, Brendan M, Monika U, Riley S, Charlotte J, Alex H and Brock M. Miss Gooley was also recognised for her excellence as a teacher at our school, delivering high quality education to many students along with exceptional care and guidance. A special thank you must also go to our wonderful StarStruck Dancing Troupe and Mrs Lewis who performed on the day. Congratulations also goes to our Zone Athletics carnival representatives, who represented with distinction at the Crossroads carnival this week. I have heard nothing but praise for our students who were in attendance from both the teachers and community for our students participation and attitude towards the competition. 12 students have progressed to the Regional carnival which is fantastic, and our school was placed third overall on the day. Thank you to Mr Wlodarczyk and Mr Boatfield, as well as the many parents who assisted these students. Week 5 (19 th – 23 rd August) is our parent teacher interviews. Hopefully everyone has received the information to make bookings with your children’s teacher. This is a great way to be involved in your child’s education and discuss their development. If you have issues making a booking online please contact the office so we can assist you. These interviews will be held in the library and are scheduled for 15 minutes. Zone Athletics

On Tuesday 6th August, 38 competitors from EVPS took to Hunter Sports Centre Glendale to show off their

prowess on the track and field at the Zone Athletics Carnival. The amazing weather provided outstanding

conditions for all students to get excited about everything athletics. All students performed to the best of their

ability and worked themselves to exhaustion. They carried themselves with pride by showing positive

behaviour and encouraging sportsmanship. 12 students have progressed through to the Hunter Regional

Carnival on the 30th August 2019. We wish all of our students the best and we know they will make EVPS proud.

Library Matters

Book Fair from Monday 2 September to Thursday 5 September

I can’t climb walls or disappear, but I have a secret power within me.

All I need is a book and I can be a gladiator or a ghost investigator.

I can visit a cave or a palace, be the hero or the fool.

Just by looking at some words. Now that is cool!

(extract from the poem ‘Reading is My Secret Power’ by Mike Lucas, 2019)
