Dear Parents and Carers,
Another great week at St Cuthbert Mayne. On my visits to classrooms this week I have seen a a wide variety of exciting learning taking place. Well done to everyone for remaining focused and trying your best in all that you do as we near the end of this long term.
Well done to our talented children in St Teresa’s, St Catherine’s, St Bernadette’s and St George’s class who blew us all away this week with their energetic and strong performance of Lights, Camel, Action by Antony Copus. Thank you for presenting the story of the Nativity in such a unique, prayerful and uplifting way. We are so proud of you all. Thank you to your talented teachers and staff who have worked so hard to ensure that you could deliver your best performances. Thank you also to Fr.David and the parish for allowing us to use the church for our nativities.
Next week, learning continues as normal but please remember to check the diary dates as we have several festive events taking place as we count down to Christmas.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Natalie McCarthy (Headteacher)
Advent
This week we lit the second candle on our Advent wreath and remembered the example of John the Baptist and his expectations of Jesus. We are preparing for our Advent Mass which takes place on Thursday 20th December at 1.45pm in the church of Jesus Christ Redeemer of Mankind. We hope that many of you will join us to celebrate Advent and the end of another successful term at St Cuthbert Mayne.
Thank you
Thank you for your generous donations to our Christmas collection for CAFOD World Gifts and our school fund. We hoped to raise £150 to buy a cow for a family through CAFOD World Gifts and were amazed to have collected £615.10 so far. We will continue to collect money through donations and also from those children and staff who donate to the collection instead of buying Christmas cards., until the end of Advent. The school council will meet in the new year to decide which gifts to buy for CAFOD.
Open the Book
Thank you to the Open the Book team who deliver an interactive assembly to the children every week, where groups of children are able to get involved in the dramatisation of the week’s scripture. We wish them a well deserved break over the Christmas holidays and look forward to their return in January.
Lights, Camel,Action
It was f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s! Well done to everyone especially Year 6 St Teresa’s Class who took part in their last St Cuthbert Mayne Nativity.
