Santa Clara County State Fair Project

This is the California State Fair:Coming up August 21st- September 7th, 2009

There will be animals and rides!

And there will be . . . the Counties’ Exhibits!

Here is a sample county boothThis picture is of a corner booth which is the kind of spot we hope to get at the state fair.

This is a small modelof our plan so far. The back corner will show new technologies “growing” from a planter box lined with integrated circuits and micro-processors. We would like to have several more displays along the walls.

Our Statement of Purpose:

Santa Clara County is known for reinventing itself, for growing new ideas with roots in its present and past. With the oldest remaining marshlands on San Francisco Bay, this environment nurtured Native American settlements, which then attracted the Spanish, who named their mission Santa Clara. This sowed the seeds for agriculture and a population that later sprouted into Silicon Valley. Silicon bloomed into biotech and alternative energy technologies that completed the circle to protecting nature, through innovations in environmentalism and green design. Today, the next generation of ideas and innovators is growing up all over Santa Clara County.

Why we need your help:There’s only so much money we can raise through bake sales, garage sales, truffle sales, etc.… Some of our building materials will have to be purchased, but to represent our county well, we need the help of businesses, non-profits, and individuals from and throughout Santa Clara County.
