Exalted Ruler
Alyssa Santos
Greetings fellow Elks, Spring is here and with that it brings a new Elk year. I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Exalted Ruler this year. Keeping what is in the best interest of our lodge is where my anchor has been dropped. Respect for where our traditions come from and yet moving forward with new ideas and approaches are my commitment to you and our lodge. To those that have taken on an officer position ,whether elected or appoint-
ed , I thank you for your commitment to this year. As well as thank you to all the new committee chair-men. We are going to make active committees a reality this year so that we can accomplish more collec-tively rather than it falling strictly on the chairman shoulders. My hope is that with more active participa-tion we can continue to increase our visibility in the community and in return our membership will flour-ish . Sharing the great works our Gardena lodge does with family and friends opens the door to inviting them to experience one of our functions or fundraisers . Your contribution of time and energy helps to build camaraderie within the lodge. We are a team that needs to support one another. If we are not sup-porting one another ,we are tearing ourselves down. I ask you to look over the committees listed here in the Elks Horn ,contact the chairman and become a little more involved by joining a committee . Together WE make the difference and I know this year we as a lodge will shine bright like a diamond ! Fraternally, Alyssa Santos, 2014-2015 Exalted Ruler

Loyal Knight Marcya Holguin
Welcome to the new Elk year. I would like to intro-duce myself for those of you who don't know me. I am a six year member of the Elks and have the pleasure of be-ing the Esteemed Loyal Knight this year. I am a mother of three amazing boys and family is really im-portant to me. I look forward to seeing you and your family at all of the amazing events we will have throughout the year. Don't forget the sec-ond Sunday of the month is our Sunday Breakfast, why cook when you can come en-joy breakfast at our lodge. We have a great breakfast crew and been having an ex-cellent turn out. Once again I am looking for-ward to a great year with a great group of people. Hope to see you soon. Sincerely, Marcya Holguin Esteemed Loyal Knight
Leading Knight
Matt Almaraz
Dear Fellow Elks,
I am proud to be writing to you as your
Leading Knight serving you this past year as
your loyal knight. I've learned a lot about
our lodge. Our lodge members have a large
heart. However, together there are many
things that we need to focus on. In my new
role I will focus on how to resolve member
participation in events that are fun, and
those that help our lodge and community.
Together in working with my fellow officers,
we will continue to try and create a place
for everyone to enjoy. I will also continue to
focus on the beautification of this building.
I'm always looking forward to hearing new
ideas as well as seeing people volunteer
their time and seeing those ideas come to
life. Please remember that every person
helping at an event is not only a member,
but also a volunteer. People may have
many suggestions, so feel free to join a
committee to make it happen. We always
need a good "helping hand." This year is
somewhat bittersweet in seeing our newest
PER, Reyne Rocha, leave her post. However
I look forward to seeing what our new Ex-
alted Ruler, Alyssa Santos, will continue to
do to make this lodge bigger and better.
Sincerely,
Your Leading Knight
Matthew Almaraz
