Peripheral Neuropathy

Co-Is: Raymond Hutchinson, MD, Jamie Renbarger, MD, MS

Purpose: The main objective of this pilot study is to describe the incidence, severity, and temporal

patterns of vincristine-induced peripheral neuropathy (VIPN) (e.g., numbness, tingling, and pain in

upper and lower extremities) and associated mobility impairments experienced ≥ one year following

vincristine treatment, and develop and pilot test a movement-based intervention that could ameliorate

vincristine-associated late effects.

Chronic Pain in Breast Cancer Survivors: A Mechanism-Based Approach

Co-Is: Ellen Lavoie Smith, PhD, APRN, AOCN, Daniel Clauw, MD, David Williams, PhD,

Steven Harte, PhD, Alex Tsodikov, PhD

Purpose: The overall objective of this research is to determine the differential effects of centrally- and

peripherally-acting analgesics on the best experimental measures of centralized pain: experimental

pain testing and functional neuroimaging. Our ultimate goal was to obtain scientific evidence driving

future research investigating the efficacy of CNS-targeted, individualized pharmacologic and non-

pharmacologic approaches to CIPN pain prevention and treatment.
