PLEASE NOTE: INTERVIEW TIMES MAY HAVE CHANGED Parent/Caregiver Interviews—with class teachers are this week: Tuesday, May 2nd and Wednesday, May 3rd Please note: interview times may have changed from last term. Please ensure all families have checked the new times printed on yellow sheets that were sent home today (Monday). If you haven’t seen the form and would like an interview please contact the front office. Good luck to the students trying out for SAPSASA Netball and Football at Lock Area School on Thursday. You will have noticed that our tuarts have been severely trimmed during the holiday break. This was due to a tree audit undertaken by DTEI, who manage our facilities and DECD as part of Bushfire preparedness. I’m sure over time the canopies will grow, thus providing more shade. Accompanying this newsletter is a brochure from the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority—ACARA. This is a curriculum fact sheet for parent caregivers to inform about what children are learning at school. There is also further information available on the website. I will be on leave the first week and Chad Fleming will be acting Principal. Anna Bascomb will be TRT backfilling lessons this week. Enjoy the first week. SCHOOL FEES A reminder to parents that school fees are overdue. These fees support the school and enable us to deliver a variety of programs for our students. Paying in instalments is an option so please talk with Julie Custance or Cynthia O’Neil regarding this. Statements were recently given to all families with amounts outstanding. Some of these were simply reminders for amounts invoiced since the start of the year e.g uniforms, which parents may have overlooked paying. The 3 options to pay these amounts are: 1. Payment by Cash, Cheque or Online Payment to the School’s Bank Account (BSB and Account details can be obtained by contacting the school or are at the bottom of your invoice) 2. Enter into an Instalment Agreement with the school to pay in manageable amounts, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. 3. Contact Julie at the school to begin instalments by Cash, cheque or online payment. If families have difficulty paying they may be eligible for School Card.

ELLISTON RSL MEMORIAL CHILDREN’S CENTRE NEWS Welcome back to Term 2, I am sure everyone had a wonderful

holiday with the beautiful weather that we experienced. Now it can rain!!

Another very successful ANZAC commemoration was held during the holidays. There were several visitors to the service as well as over 100 local people. It is a very important event for our Centre and I would like to thank Caroline and Kym Gillett, Nigel and Debbie May, Jeffrey Allen, Cynthia for the loan of the PA system, and everyone else who helped set up, pack up, do dishes, cook breakfast, lay wreaths, be part of the service and contributed to this very worthwhile and important service.

Thank you to Larissa Carter for making sure the garden and grounds continue to look fantastic.

Big thanks to Teresa for getting all the RSL items ready for ANZAC Day.

In addition, a big thankyou to Jane McDougall for covering an enormous pile of new books, these will be available for the children to borrow this week.

DON’T FORGET: This week is Tuesday and Wednesday only. Teresa and I are off to the Nature Play International Conference on Thursday. We are both very excited about this opportunity.

This week we are discovering the letter H, the colour orange and what makes a rectangle.

Have a fantastic week! Regards Annie, Teresa, Julie, Lari, Karen & Ayesha

Anxious Bay Boating Facilities - Community Consultation

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure has commissioned a study to investigate alternative locations and

concept schemes for a boat ramp suitable for commercial and recreational users, in an area not exceeding a 7km radius from

the existing boat ramp at Anxious Bay.

The investigation will include an assessment of the existing location, consideration of alternative locations, community

consultation, concept schemes and cost estimates, factoring social, environmental and economic measures.

Community consultation will be a key element of this assessment. The primary purpose of the community consultation process

is to identify the key priorities and needs of the stakeholders that may be affected or have an interest in boat launching

facilities in the Anxious Bay area. In addition to this, the community consultation process provides you with the opportunity to

be informed, be involved and have active participation in the decision making process for the proposed works.

There are two ways to get involved in the consultation process:

Complete the survey

Hard copy surveys are available for you to complete at the Council offices, the supermarket, the library and service station.

The survey can also be found online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/anxiousbay, or alternatively it can be emailed

upon request. The content of the survey can be discussed further in a one on one meeting (see below), or if

completed can be returned to the Council offices or emailed to [email protected] by COB Friday 7th May

2017.

Face to face consultation

One-on-one meetings will be run over the course of two days (10th-11th May 2017) at the Elliston Information Centre,

conducted by WGA who have been commissioned to undertake the study. The purpose of these meetings are to hear

your concerns and needs with regards to the boating facility.

If you would like to request a meeting time, a copy of the survey or have any other questions regarding the study please don’t

hesitate to contact Phil Cameron (Elliston Council, 08 8687 9177) or Annabel Sandery ([email protected]).
