High standards of learning for all From the Principal’s desk….. Issue No 15 22/05/2019 ELLY NEWS In this issue: Principal’s Report Student Awards P&F Info School Photo Info School Diary May 20th—24th Education Week June 3rd—Student Free Day June 5th—Years 3-6 excursion for World Environment Day June 10th—Queen’s Birthday Holiday June 19th—P&F Meeting, 9am in Canteen 2019 Term Dates Term 2: 23/04—28/06 Term 3: 15/07—20/09 Term 4: 07/10—20/12 www.ellliminyt.vic.edu.au 135 Slater Street, Elliminyt Vic 3250 PO BOX 359 Colac 3250 Phone: 5231 5208 Fax: 52321943 [email protected] NAPLAN 2019 Last week we completed the majority of the NAPLAN tests for the majority of our Year 3 and 5 students, however there are some that are still outstanding due to either technical interruption or absenteeism. We are working through these as best we can. If you have any questions or concerns in this area, please don’t hesitate to ask. 2019 Essential Education Items Please make arrangements to pay these fees as soon as possible. If you’re unable to pay in the next week or so, please have a discussion with myself or Lorraine to arrange a payment plan. Student fees are set at $150 per child per year. Education Week Yesterday I had the pleasure of escorting a number of new families around our school as they begin planning their choice of schools for Prep 2020. This is a very exciting time for new families, but in this excitement, we mustn’t forget any siblings of our current students! If you have a child at home ready to start Prep in 2020 please let us know at the office ASAP! Election BBQ & Cake Stall Our incredible P&F group ran a very successful BBQ and bake stall at the weekend, raising over $2000! Thank you again to those who volunteered their time, or their baked goods—it was very much appreciated. Special thanks to Hayley Dewar for her overall coordination of the event and to Emma Menzies for her bulk baking expertise! Upcoming events Our senior students have swimming lessons scheduled for Term 3. Please be aware this expense is coming up and will be due by the end of this term. Notes and permissions to come. The seniors also have an upcoming excursion to COPACC for ’World Environment Day’ on June 5th. Notes to come home this week. Student Free Day Monday 3rd of June is our Term 2 Student Free Day. On this day our staff will be busily writing Semester 1 Student Reports. These are due for distribution on Monday 24th of June. Germs, germs, germs! There are LOTS of germs getting around the community at the moment and we are noticing a lot of absences—which is ABSOLUTELY the right thing to do when children are sick. Please, please, if your child has been unwell, keep them at home and leave them at home until 24 hours after the symptoms have passed. Sending them back to school before this just allows the germs to spread to others. Angela Hall Principal
