Introduction
Resume
IntroductionMost people call me Elyssa or some variation of it. I am a first generat ion col lege student in my fami ly. For le isure, I enjoy playing tennis, baking cupcakes, dancing, and eating. I have an obsession with snacks especially sweet treats. Anything from banana chips to dried sour cherries to chocolate, you name it, I probably have them stashed in my desk drawers. Many of my engineering professors are shocked to hear that I want to open a bakery some time during my lifetime. While my classmates all ask to be taste testers. I love art and the challenge of a difficult math problem. Post-it notes and a pen reside on top of my nightstand for late night ideas and concepts that decide to appear in my dreams. When I have “artist’s block”, sometimes I sleep with my textbook or sketchbook under my pillow hoping to get some inspiration in the middle of the night. Besides all of my quirkiness, I am a self-motivated engineering student who is passionate about design and art. Through these pages, you will witness some of the best work I have done while attending Miami University. My future aspiration is to work in the product design and brand strategy field. I hope to inspire others while impacting the world. I hope to combine the knowledge and problem solving skills I have gained from mechanical engineering classes into my future career as a designer and entreprenuer.

In Einstein’s Dreams, each section described the concept of time in a different context. I chose to use the idea of organization and chaos to depict time in the future and past, respectively.

Overview
Design Studies
The inspiration and design concept arised from the painting, Hill Street by Thiebaud, and the Michaels/Sisson residential home by Miller Hull Partnership. As seen in the design studies section, I used the painting and experimented with various medias to bring forth possible conceptual ideas. I designed a space that combined elements from both inspirations.

107 Shillito Place is a residential loft located in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. These urban lofts include a terrace, high ceilings, and large windows to view the cityscape. The inspiration for the interior originated from the owner ’s interests in mechanical systems and art. This loft is designed to suit a family of four, including two kids in high school, and extra space to be rented out by future tenants. The words continuity and connection were kept in mind during the design process.

Fusion of Cultures
Fusion is an annual cultural variety show presented by the Asian Ameri-can Association at Miami University. It includes Asian traditional and modern dances, singing, and acting. The concept of fusion is to bring all of the different Asian cultures together into one show. The stage backdrop was hand-sewn and hand-painted on canvas to help stay within budget and to give a custom, longlasting artwork for an organi-zation to use for future events and shows.
