City Hall and new rec facility. Updates to the existing park and facility are described within the City’s overall park planning document.

NEW GRIMES PUBLIC LIBRARY PROJECT FAQS

The GVSS Yard Patrol coordinator is looking for six to eight volunteers to help with the current mowing season. Clients provide gas and lawnmowers. You provide your time. All interested volunteers should call or visit the GVSS office, 404 S.E. Second St., Suite 100, Grimes, or go online at www.grimesvss.com com to get the application. Louise Hauger will be contacting folks who received mowing and yard service last year.

If you’ve thought about volunteering for GVSS, give them a call at 515-986-5355. They’ve had several years of experience in utilizing employed volunteers.

YARD WORK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

VBS at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Grimes will be here be-fore we know it. Mark your calen-dars for June 28 - July 1 as partici-pants venture into a frozen land in search of The King’s mighty armor. New this year: Two sessions will be available to choose from: 10 a.m. to noon or 6-8 p.m. Registration is open. Follow this link: https://www.myvbs.org/stpeterlutheranchurch.

Volunteers are needed. Sign up to help at https://www.myvbs.org/stpeterlutheranchurch. All volunteers are required to com-plete a background check before volunteering with youth. Due to COVID, organizers plan to have most activities outside, and masks will be required for everyone. By providing two sessions, they plan to reduce the number of children and volunteers present. If you have any questions regarding VBS, contact the church, 515-986-3077.

Several weeks ago, I mentioned that you could expect to find some changes soon to your Living Weekly publication. Well, as you hopefully have noticed, that time is now.

You may recall that we changed the name from the Grimes Adviser to the Grimes/Dallas Center Living Weekly in an effort to co-brand the publication with our monthly Grimes/Dallas Center Living magazine. This allows us to publish news and advertising more frequently and in an even more timely manner.

Starting with this issue, we switched to a folded format in the print edition, allowing us to add more pages as needed. This also provides a more mobile-friendly layout for those of you who subscribe to the email edition and view on your phones and computers.

You will also notice that we have added photos to the layout rather than the text-only versions we have done in the past. And, of course, we are printing it all in full color.

If you run a business and would

like to have free copies of the Grimes/Dallas Center Living Weekly available in your operation, simply contact Patrick Clemmons at 515-953-4822, ext. 304 or [email protected], and we will add you to our list.

If you have news items or photos to submit, contact Tammy Pearson at 515-953-4822, ext. 302 or [email protected].

If you would like to place a free classified ad (up to 50 words), send to Beckham Miller at [email protected].

If you would like information on placing display advertising in Grimes/Dallas Center Living Weekly, contact Dan Juffer at 515-371-2290 or [email protected].

And if you have any other thoughts, ideas or suggestions, please contact me from the information below.

We appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and, as always, I thank you for reading.
