    Embedded Clauses

    (Subordinate clauses in the middle of sentences)

    Hint: Look out for the , it will help you to locate the embedded clause!

    Example: Miss. Mann, our headmistress, enjoys playing the piano.

    Using the information in the table above, create 4 sentences which have

    embedded clauses.

    Put a comma on each side of the subordinate clause.

    1. The man clutching his bag tightly shouted at the thieves.

    2. A tree swaying violently in the wind suddenly fell on the roof.

    3. Millions of people even the elderly are learning to use computers.

    4. My last thought just before I fell asleep was how much I was dreading

    tomorrow.

    5. An enormous creature covered in mud and dripping with water
