Embedded Content Inserts

Any of the Platformic tools can be embedded into a text block or feed article by using the

third tab in the text editor. This makes it really easy to bundle related content and reuse

media assets such as photos, videos, podcasts, and feed articles. Adding embedded

content is really a two step process.

The first step is to set up a custom style using CSS classes. This is done through

Sections and Layouts in the Admin Panel. Custom CSS classes can be created by

choosing Define a new class.

1. Start by giving your class a name. You should try to make it a unique name so that

you don’t accidentally override another class.

2. Select a default stylesheet from the drop down menu. This will add the class to the

stylesheet and make it available to the Section using the defaults.

3. Once you have set the properties you want for the custom class, click on the button

Define Class.

When you want to edit the class, you can go to the List/manage CSS classes menu in

Sections and Layouts. The class will be listed with a drop menu with available actions.

To apply the class to embedded content, the embedded content tab in the text editor will

display the new class name in a drop down menu.

To add embedded content to an existing article or text block, locate the article either by

finding it on a page and clicking on an edit icon or using the feed manager. Once inside

the text editor, go to the third tab labeled Embed Content.

The default selections available are:

• PhotoGallery

• Video/MediaItem

• Text/HTML

ToinsertaPhotoGallery,selectthatfromthedropdownmenu.ThePhotoGallery

Managerwillappear.Youmayeithercreateanewgalleryorselectanexistingone.To

actuallyattachthephotogallery,gototheGalleryList/SelecttabandclickontheAttach

icon for the desired gallery.

When a photo gallery is embedded in the article, the photos will appear in an overlay with

next and previous links when the thumbnail is clicked.

To insert a video or media item, choose that from the drop down. The media library will

appear. Locate the item you want to attach or upload a new one. Click on the insert

button.

As you add these components, they will appear in a list with these icons:

1. Remove Sidebar

2. MoveUp

3. MoveDown

4. Edit Sidebar

5. Show Sidebar (preview)

Next to the buttons are the Description or Content Type, an Optional Caption, CSS Class

specifier, and depending on the content type - width parameters.

Usetheiconbuttonstoeditandorganizethesidebarcontent.UsetheCSSClass

specifier to apply styles you previously defined and position the sidebar.

Click on the Edit Paragraph button to commit your changes.
