Emboss Resist
Emboss Resist – Sponging – Negative Image:
High Tide
I love this project because it is so simple to make yet so very stunning. Trust me, the photo doesn’t
do it justice. I’ve used three colours for this project, all blues obviously.

Other Supplies used:
• Embossing Buddy [103083]
• Versamark [102283]
• Clear Emboss Powder [109130] *alternatively you could also use White Emboss Powder
[109132]
• Heat Tool U.K [129054]
• Stampin’ Sponges [141337]
• Kitchen Paper
• Multipurpose Liquid Glue [110755]
• C6 Whisper White Envelopes [106588]
To work out what size of card you will need, determine what size of envelop you are
using and make sure to make the folded card base to fit within that.
My envelope is C6 11.4cm x 16.2cm so I always work my folded card bases on a
maximum size of 10.5cm x 14.8cm.
This takes in to account the size of the U.K A4 cardstock 21cm x 29.6cm. I can get 2
standard card bases from this.

Use your Embossing Buddy to prepare cardstock for heat embossing. Now using Versamark ink,
stamp the lighthouse, lightbeam, sand/foam and water. Pour the embossing powder over this and
carefully heat set the embossing powder using the Heat Tool. I never tire of watching this process.
It’s like magic! 😊
With a Stampin’ Sponge, apply some Soft Sky ink to the
embossed area of your artwork.
This not only adds colour but helps you to outline
exactly the area where you wish to deposit the other
colours.
This will give you a little confidence if you’re hesitant to
apply the darker inks.
Now apply some Marina Mist ink likewise. Take time to
blend this in nicely. I find that the more you work the
sponge, the softer the blending looks.

Now carefully apply Dapper Denim ink to the
lighthouse. Blend it out very slightly but don’t allow it
to overpower the other previously applied colours.
In the water area, you can see that I’ve only applied a
shading of the Dapper Denim ink to almost look like
shadow on the water.
Using Marker to Stamp Technique, colour the word
‘Shine’ and stamp. (use Stampin’ Write marker to
colour in only the area of the stamp you wish to ink
up. Once colour is on the stamp, breath over it to
reactivate the ink, then stamp)
You will notice that I purposely let the ink dry and
separate a little on the stamp before stamping it. This
caused a lovely distressed look to the sentiment.
Stamp the birds using Dapper Denim inkpad.
Gently wipe over the embossed area with Kitchen
Towel to remove any excess ink, and that is your
artwork complete.

Assembly:
Simply adhere the artwork to your mat then on to
your cardbase.
Hints & Tips …..
• When you pick up ink from your inkpad, in preparation for sponging, make sure to dab the
sponge first on a piece of scrap paper. This takes off any excess ink that would cause inky
patches to show on your artwork.
