This document describes how to use the various components that make up EMC ViewPoint for SAP Production Orders (PP) Module. EMC’s technology allows you to effectively manage your application data by providing the ability to define the access, retention, and service level requirements for any business transaction at each point in its lifecycle.

Audience This guide is part of the ViewPoint documentation set, and is intended for use by anyone using the ViewPoint for SAP PP Module. It is assumed that the installer has a working knowledge of SAP Basis, and has the appropriate levels of responsibilities to perform the tasks described.

Using the ViewPoint for SAP PP Module

IntroductionThe ViewPoint modules are constructed in modular form and cover the application modules FI, SD, MM, CO, etc. with a special program package for exactly this application. You can easily see from the name which ViewPoint module belongs to which SAP module: FI, SD, MM, CO, etc. All ViewPoint modules have in common that they can be easily installed in the SAP R/3 system via the SAP transport utilities "tp" and "SAINT". Installation details of the ViewPoint modules are in the EMC ViewPoint for SAP Modules Installation Manual.

This manual on the display transaction and application programs was written to support you when using the ViewPoint PP Module. The EMC ViewPoint for SAP Production Orders Module Administration Manual contains construction and administration information for the ViewPoint PP Module.

The EMC ViewPoint for SAP Modules Utilities User Manual contains additional module information.



Application functions

Navigation in ViewPoint PP Module up to 4.5x

ViewPoint has integrated in its software a start menu which corresponds to the SAP standard menu S000 after having registered in the SAP system. The only difference is the additional function button ViewPoint Archive Add-On.

In order to use this menu, you only have to enter start menu YPBS for users up to 3.1 respectively /PBS/PBS for users in all 4.0 releases and /PBS/PBS_45 from release 4.5.

After pressing the button, you get to the main menu transactions for the ViewPoint module, by which you can address the different modules in a comfortable way, as shown in Figure 1-1, “ViewPoint main menu with branching to ViewPoint PP Module.”

Navigation in ViewPoint PP Module from 4.6From the Easy Access menu you can easily navigate via User menu through the functions of the ViewPoint PP Module. This is possible when your system administrator has added the role/activity group to your user profile, as shown in Figure 1-2, “ViewPoint main menu with branching to ViewPoint PP Module.”

Transaction overviewThis version of the ViewPoint PP Module provides the display transactions /PBS/COA3, /PBS/COA0 and /PBS/CO03, allowing the display of the archived production orders via the secondary indices of the ViewPoint PP Module as well as the display of production orders from the SAP database, as listed in Table 1-1, “Comparison of transaction names.” Furthermore, the menu /PBS/CPP for the selection of the components and functions of the ViewPoint PP Module programs can be carried out.

Transaction /PBS/COA3The transaction /PBS/COA3 displays archived production orders via the secondary indices of the ViewPoint PP Module. The selection screen is analogue to the SAP transaction COA3 and allows all delimitations via the available secondary indices. This allows an efficient and fast search for the requested production orders, as shown in Figure 1-3, “Selection screen of the transaction /PBS/COA3.”

Compared to the SAP transaction COA3, a restriction of the production orders to be imported is not necessary, as not all SAP archive files are read sequentially but the production orders to be displayed are imported directly via the ViewPoint secondary indices in accordance with the selection delimitations you have chosen.

Like in transaction COA3, the selected data is then displayed in a list. Within this result list you can now use the possibilities for detailed



displays (displaying the details of the list) known from COA3, as shown in Figure 1-4, “List display of transaction /PBS/COA3.”

Figure 1-4, “List display of transaction /PBS/COA3,” shows as an example the list display of a production order. Within this list, the production order was displayed in detail to view the corresponding order items and operations.

Transaction /PBS/YOA0With the transaction /PBS/YOA0 you can display production orders from the database and already archived production orders via the index of the ViewPoint PP Module. The selection of the data to be displayed again is analogue to the SAP transaction COA3 respectively to the transaction /PBS/COA3, allowing all delimitations via existing secondary indices, as shown in Figure 1-5, “Selection screen of transaction /PBS/YOA0.”

A restriction of the production orders to be imported is not necessary, as explained in “Transaction /PBS/COA3” on page 1-6, however, you can decide if you want to import production orders only from the archive, only from the data base or from both sources.



At first, the selected data is displayed in correspondence to the selection screen in a basic list with the most important fields. Due to the highlighting you can easily differentiate the archived production orders read via the ViewPoint index of CPP from those of the database. By positioning on the order number of the production order in question and clicking Select (respectively double-click on the order number), you can now display in detail the corresponding production order number. If the production order is stored in the SAP database you branch off to the display transaction CO03. But if the requested production order is read via the index of the ViewPoint modules from the archive, the display is carried out with the ViewPoint CPP components of the transaction /PBS/COA3 described before, as shown in Figure 1-6, “Display of result (basic list) of transaction /PBS/YOA0; different production orders selected via double-click.”

Transaction /PBS/CO03With the transaction /PBS/CO03 you can display production orders from the database and already archived production orders via the index of the ViewPoint PP Module. The selection of the data to be displayed again is analogue to the SAP transaction CO03, allowing all delimitations via existing secondary indices, as shown in Figure 1-7, “Selection screen of transaction /PBS/CO03.”

In the course of the transactions the difference between ViewPoint and SAP transaction is indicated by the archive indicator "*", as

Access via ABAP/4 routinesAll important routines required for the access to the archive data are stored in the ABAP /PBS/CPP_READ. For examples showing how these routines are used, refer to the programs from /PBS/CPP_U002 to /PBS/CPP_U009.


ABAP/4 Interfaces

Access via ViewPoint Function ModuleThe function module /PBS/SELECT_INTO_TABLE accesses the ViewPoint module and exports the data records of the requested table to an internal table.

The function uses the interfaces listed in Table 2-1, “Parameter of conversion tool.”

As the data of the ViewPoint module is not contained in the data base, you cannot access this data via the command SELECT. Existing ABAPs, therefore, must be modified via the function key for the access to the archive data.

Basis The SELECT command used in ABAP possesses one of the three basic characteristics which have to be adjusted if you want to use the function module. These are:

1. Select ... Endselect

2. Select into Table

3. Select Single

The archive accesses are optimized by transferring the key parameters to the function. If the command SELECT uses only these key parameters for the selection, the restriction WHERE may not be necessary for the archive data.

The adjustment of the three select types to the function modules is made according to the following pattern.
