products that do good
We began working on our first product nearly two years ago when we were made aware of the massive need for raised flooring in post-disaster recovery and in the long-term shelters occupied by millions of refugees.
We had started seeing stories like this in the news...
“mirwais, son of haytullah haideri [froze to death]. he was 1 ½ years old and had just learned to walk, holding unsteadily to the poles of the family tent before flopping onto the frozen ridges of the muddy floor.”

refugee camps spring up in fields. they have no drainage and no sanitation infrastructure. flooding is a regular occurance as is exposure to sewage. on average, these camps last 12 to 17 years.
refugees and victims of natural disaster currently live directly on the dirt. as a result, they suer from preventable ailments such as hypothermia, parasitic infections, and other water-borne diseases.
these families need to get out of the mud.
these families need raised flooring.
the typical camp consists of 20,000 to 100,000 individuals. massive numbers of shipments arrive daily to sustain life. until now, that packaging has just gone to waste.
the latest data shows a grim situation. by the end of 2012 there were 10.5 million refugees. there were 27.5 million internally displaced persons. 244.7 million victims of naturaly disaster
we saw an opportunity to solve both the need for raised flooring and the need to address the massive glut of shipping waste in one simple solution.
introducing, our first product:
the emergency floor is a raised flooring system for disaster relief.
the emergency floor repurposes shipping waste to get families out of the rain, the mud, & the snow.
the emergency floor saves lives, re-establishes dignity, and increases comfort in times of trail.
the emergency floor is a common sense solution.
we are currently piloting the E-FLÖR in our partner’s new UN refugee shelter in a test site in rural sweden. it will be monitored for performance over a brutal swedish winter.
we anticipate success and a licensing agreement when the refugee housing unit introduces their new winterized shelter.
