The age group from 12 to 18 years is what takes greater expression (41%) followed by the group up to 6 years representing 39%

Characterization
It is constituted by a Central Team (in a Call Center) and 18 Social Emergency District Teams
The LNES started its operation on 30th
September 2001 and has as primary objective to give an immediate response in situations requiring urgent action in the field of social protection.
It is a public service available 24 hours a day, all year round.
Goal
To guarantee immediate answer to situations
that need urgent action and to signal and
direct situations of serious social exclusion.
• The calls are firstly received by a team of First Line that screening the calls
• Calls concerning a Social Emergency Situation are then directed to the Central Team
How Does it Work ?
The Central Team elaborate the diagnosis of the situation reported. According to location and characteristics of the situation, the Regional Emergency Team (located in every district in the country), or other institution or services capable to give an answer, could be contacted.
The regional emergency teams will go to the place where the emergency situation locate, in order to give a quick, useful and property answer.
Situations that are not a social emergency, will be send to local social security services, to public health service or to other telephonic help service.
How Does it Work ?
The LNES takes charge of the emergency situations during approximately 48 hours, after that, they are managed by the Social Security local services in the caller’s residential area.
Continuous follow-up is then ensured to promote the social inclusion of the person who request help.
