eMeter: Information You Can Act OneMeter® provides utilities and their consumers with actionable information to inform better business and energy decisions. eMeter EnergyIP®, the industry’s leading Meter Data Management (MDM) platform, delivers information and automation in real-time to drive operational efficiencies, increase service reliability, boost customer satisfaction, and drive energy efficiency.
With eMeter EnergyIP, you can quickly turn your data into actionable information
that can be leveraged across the utility. Designed to support the requirements of
Advanced Metering, eMeter goes beyond the industry standard to provide:
• The fastest, most cost effective path to advanced Meter Data Management
infrastructure and devices while insulating you and your customers from
complexity and disruption.
• The enterprise agility to quickly innovate without re-tooling your IT
infrastructure. eMeter’s flexible architecture allows you to adapt to regulatory
change and capitalize on new technology or business opportunities.
• Integrated smart metering and utility information systems to deliver visibility
and process automation that uniquely supports real-time grid management
and dramatically improves operational efficiency and customer service.
• Powerful online consumer engagement, which for the first time enables
true utility-consumer collaboration, optimizes load and promotes sustained
conservation.
• Unparalleled scalability to handle the complexity of a multi-million point
AMI deployment.
• eMeter EnergyIP integrates your legacy enterprise operations to support the
most cutting-edge Business Intelligence. The new eMeter Analytics Foundation
platform extension allows utilities to pin-point errors among massive read
volumes separate from core transaction processing to provide near real-time
access to information without compromising operational performance. Through
the Reporting Framework you can customize reports so business and technical
users view the same report portal to mine for problems.
“We chose eMeter for their platform’s flexibility, scalability and proven success with their utility customers. We believe the strength of eMeter’s platform and its history of successful deployments makes them one of the very few meter data management companies who can fully take advantage of existing rich partner channels and enable NRGi to deliver our data-driven Smart Grid vision.”

eMeter ApplicationseMeter applications provide the fastest path to turning your meter data into
usable information for your business units and customers. You can add additional
applications as you need them with minimal disruption to your enterprise
operations and therefore your customers. eMeter applications include:
• Register Billing and Interval Billing applications transform the traditional
meter-to-cash process from a batch-oriented, multiple day process to a
real-time, automated and on-demand process which accelerates cash flow.
• Outage Event Management combines disparate power-on/off events into
single outage events and automates outage detection to provide robust outage
and restoration management solutions. Outage Event Management also helps
your Outage Management System to complete repairs quickly and efficiently
and to easily see outage duration and associated impact.
• Remote Connect / Disconnect application automates the process of
connecting and disconnecting customers without sending personnel on-site,
therefore driving operational efficiency.
• Energy Engage™ Customer Portal provides individual customers access to
relevant, up-to-date usage and cost information and fosters utility-customer
collaboration with custom-tailored programs that reduce support calls,
encourage conservation, and reduce peak demand. Energy Engage integrates
variable-rate pricing plans and community generated tips, both of which
reduce the peak load while providing value to customers.

• Prepayment support enables “Pay As You Go” to manage customers’
financial balances and decrease write-offs with low credit notifications,
consumer financial empowerment through consumption transparency,
and disconnect/reconnect management. Helps your utility meet regulatory
guidelines and meet political pressures to help low-income household
manage bills.
• Customer service Representative Portal automates the customer
service process, giving agents detailed, real-time, accurate information
for first call resolution of incoming inquiries.
• settlements uses actual interval data to aggregate and report net
balances of energy purchased and consumed from each market entity
to enable financial settlement.
• network Loss Management uses AMI data to detect “technical and
non-technical loss” and create reports with substation meter data and
GIS integration. Network Loss Management also allows you to identify,
drill down, and minimize loss.
eMeter’s open architecture means that if you have a business need for
any application now or in the future, you will be able to extend your eMeter
system to include any future eMeter applications, or have an application
custom-built for your needs.
“From a business operation standpoint we have had significant operational improvements. We have saved over 800,000 truck rolls since we deployed in August 2009. The eMeter EnergyIP tool has provided us with the functionality to do just this.”
