WHAT IS THE IMOP? The imop is an individual capacitor unit designed to be installed to an

individual inductive load. ‘IMOP’ being a more user-friendly term for ‘inductive motor optimisation panel’.

CE Declaration of Conformity; Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC, EN 60204-1:2006 Safety Electrical Equipment and Machines.

Approved by European Commission as part of Environmental Technology Verification Scheme (TRIETV006).

Each IMOP is tailor made to suit each individual load (Motor/Pump). As a result of a patented diagnostic device known as the sizing kit; it is possible to size the imop to exactly match the requirements of the load under its operating conditions.

Specific data can be provided to outline KWH savings, financial savings and carbon reduction.

The IMOP works by managing Power Factor Correction locally, therefore saving Energy, reducing Carbon and Heat, plus increasing Capacity and reliability of the motor.Manufactured to IP65 rating.

WHAT DOES THE IMOP DO? The IMOP works by supplying locally the reactive power element of electricity to inductive motors and loads. Reduces utility costs for operating inductive loads. Increases the efficiency of motors. Reduces the amount of current drawn by equipment, which will increase system capacity. Reduces the heat from the motor, this will increase the motor lifespan (An extra 10 degree C in the motor

temperature will reduce its life by half). Considerable improvement in voltage drop, stability and reduces system losses. The IMOP works best on fixed speed motors that do not contain a Variable Speed Drive (VSD’s).The IMOP can work on some VSD’s ,though this would depend on the model of the VSD.

VSD’s are installed in series where as the IMOP is installed in parallel with the motor, in the unlikely event of the IMOP failing the motor will revert back to its original state of efficiency, and the IMOP is not another potential failure point. To stop using the IMOP you would simply switch it off, it does not require to be uninstalled.Unlike VSD’s the IMOP has no moving parts, and does not produce any Harmonic Distortion.

Welsh Water Case Study

The optimum position for PFC is directly at the load, therefore it is more effective than installing units at the building power supply(global) or indeed on main bus-bars.

COMMENTS AND ACCREDITATIONS‘With the installations of the IMOP and the savings we are experiencing this will go a long way towards reducing our carbon emissions, business energy costs and achieving our short and long term business targets’ Steve Povey-Retail building services manager, Canary Wharf Group‘The total saving on pump 2 in real and reactive power is £4,800 per annum, giving an ROI in under 1year’.M.W Bates –Carbon & Energy analyst, South Staffs Water

PROPOSED ACTIONSWe will show proof of concept by conducting a live demonstration of the IMOP at a site in the UK.The demonstration will include connection of the IMOP to a Motor that is15 Kw or more, non variable speed drive and 3 phase. We will show the parameters of the motor under load in real time on our Chauvin meter, including the energy savings, Power Factor, Kvar, Kw, and Amp reductions. We can then produced a sizing data sheet showing the above savings and ROI. We would advise the following route of progression: A survey to be carried out by our engineers at the facility, where we will size the respective motors and produce sizing data sheets showing specific savings and ROI for each motor. Following on from this, a decision can be made on which motors to install an IMOP based on ROI.Please contact Chris Powell for further information 01628 202 747
