Eminem ‘Recovery’ Album Cover Typography – The font is bold, in capitals and white, this makes it stand out, suggesting pureness and a fresh start, working with the title. The reversed ‘E’ also works with the normal ‘E’ and together they relate to Eminem’s name; where he often prints the two in reverse – this also indicates to his name; which isn’t printed on the actual album cover; as he is instantly recognisable now and so people know it’s him.

Iconography – This icon is a paramount indicator of emergency and help.

Denotation of a long road, Connotes the long road to recovery, where you don’t know where it will end.

Dyer of celebrity – It is clear that this is Eminem, as he is recognisable, and he is on his road to recovery. Shown through his costume, this is his usual casual style.

Denotation of a blue sky, this connotes positivity and a bright future – relating to the title of recovery.

The focus is mainly on Eminem, with the rest of the image slightly blurred – this draws the viewers’ attention to Eminem; and makes them think deeper about where he is going.

The rule of thirds – the album cover uses this, to show the main focused protagonist on bottom left, the background unfocused image in the centre and then the name of the album in the top right, this portions out the album so to give attention to each and make it more interesting.
