Emmanuel College was founded in 1919 by Reverend George Floyd Taylor, under the name Franklin Springs Institute.
The name of the institution was changed to Emmanuel College in 1939 under President Thomas Aaron who moved the campus to its current location.
In 1967, under the administration of President Woodrow Glenn Drum, the College received accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges as a junior college.
Dr. Culbreth Melton became the sixth President of Emmanuel College in 1970 and under his administration, a four-year School of
Christian Ministries was established and accredited.
Under the administration of Dr. David Hopkins, Emmanuel College became an accredited four-year institution in 1991 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commision on Colleges.
In 2005, Dr. Michael Stewart became the eighth President and under his administration, significant efforts were made through expanding academic and athletic programs and improving facilities and overall campus life.
Dr. Ron White currently serves as the ninth president of Emmanuel College. Under his administration, the College has experienced its largest enrollments in history.

The last two academic years, Emmanuel College has reached record enrollment numbers with 920 students enrolled during Fall 2016. This was the first time that the 900 mark was crossed.

As enrollment has increased over the last few years academic standards have been maintained.
The average SAT score for incoming freshmen has remained consistent or trended upward with increased enrollment.
The percentage of International Students that call Emmanuel College home has stayed consistent at 3% with a jump to nearly 5% during the Fall 2016 semester. For the 2016-2017 academic year, we have students from 30 states and 22 different countries on campus.
The average high school GPA has held steady with the increase in enrollment.

Graduation Rates at Emmanuel have varied over the past decade, however, there are many students that get an excellent start on their academic career at Emmanuel College and then transfer to other schools to finish their degree programs. Likewise, a number of students transfer to Emmanuel College and find it a great place to finish up their degree. In fact, nearly 40% of the Emmanuel College’s 332 graduates from 2013-2015 transferred to Emmanuel College to finish their degrees.
